Jean's obituary
On April 29th, 2023, the world lost a kind and compassionate soul. Jean Sucher, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away in Albuquerque. She was 67 years old.
Jean lived a life dedicated to service and love for others, particularly children. From a young age, she felt a calling to work with children, and that passion only grew as she got older. Whether it was teaching Sunday school or running a daycare out of her home, Jean's primary focus was always on the well-being and happiness of children.
Jean was born in Illinois on May 12th, 1955, to a single mother who had to work hard to make ends meet. Despite the challenges she faced growing up, Jean was always resilient and determined to make the most of what she had. She gave her heart to Jesus at the age of seven and found strength and stability through prayer and her unwavering faith in God, something she would carry with her for the rest of her life.
Jean had a good head for business and sales, winning a DECA state award for advertising in high school. Although she had the opportunity to attend business college, she put it on hold to attend Bible college, where she met her husband Joe.
Jean's love for learning and teaching led her to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education, which she obtained from Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. Her passion for teaching did not end there, as she spent over 40 years working with children in various settings, including Christian schools, daycares, and youth programs.
But Jean's dedication to service did not stop at children. She also worked in banking, sales, and retail, always striving to provide the best customer service and care to those she encountered. Her people skills and friendly demeanor made her beloved by all who knew her.
Despite her many achievements and busy schedule, Jean always made time for her family, who meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving husband, two sons, a sister, one half-brother, one half-sister, and three step-brothers. Jean's family was her greatest source of joy and her unwavering love and devotion to them will be missed.
Although Jean is no longer with us in physical form, her impact and legacy will live on. Her dedication to service, love, and faith will continue to inspire those who knew her and those who will hear her story. A celebration of her life will be held on June 10th, 2023, at Life Church in Swansea, IL, where she served as the Children's Ministry Director for many years. Rest in peace, Jean, and thank you for the countless lives you touched with your kindness and love.
