She was the best neighbor I ever knew, she always treated everyone with immeasurable kindness

Janet and Steve dated in high school and would drive from Okmulgee to Oklahoma City University to double date with me and the guy I was dating at the time. We had the best time, and what I remember most about both Janet and Steve were the laughs and just plain fun we shared. She was always so joyful and yet wise when needed. We shared lots of family memories as cousins, her grandmother Gladys Hiner was my Aunt Gladys, my mom's sister... oh, yea, stories and laughter. Rest in peace Janet and may God grant peace and strength to Steve, Michael, Kyle, Kelly and Lane in this hard loss. May her memory be a blessing. much love

Janet was an important part of my identity and view of the world, in childhood and onward. She had such faith in people and showed patient, unjudging love to everyone she met.
She always made me feel seen and supported and trusted me to babysit her precious children whom I loved so much, while also thoughtfully and lovingly teaching and mentoring me along the way.
I was deeply impacted by her example, from the ways she cared for her own family, how she raised her children, and how she connected with, guided, and supported her community.
She didn't wait for someone to ask for help. She intentionally served and found creative, impactful, and very personal ways to make a difference in the lives of others. With a gentle spirit, profound vision, and a humble, peaceful heart, she made countless efforts to help those around her throughout her life.
I'm so grateful to have known her, and to have been led by her example in this life. May she rest in eternal peace.
