Tami and I met James and Marcia at a wine event with the OC Wine Society. James was wearing a Ga Tech polo shirt and I was drawn to him immediately since that was my college also. After that we had great times at mini tastings at there home , lunches at the American Legion, and Newport Harbor cruises on our boat. James took great care of Marcia which was a great symbol of their love for each other.
We enjoyed having dinner with James and Marcia on many occasions. We would also play canasta with them and James always had a twinkle in his eye when he was playing cards as you never knew what he was hiding in his hand until the last minute and then he would totally surprise you. He always had a smile on his face and we will miss him dearly. Our condolences to his entire family and his lovely wife, Marcia❤️
I believe it was the summer before James went to college. He got a job with a swimming pool company. They had him doing the grunt work like shoveling out the bottom of the hole. He would come home late in the afternoon, dirty, sweaty, sunburned, and exhausted. I remember him saying he would work hard in school, get a good job, and never have to do work like this again. Well he did and it turned out well.
James was a real gentle gentleman, respected and loved by all. What l cherished most was his intelligence, he never“ showed off “ how much he knew and understood which in itself was endearing..He will always be in our hearts and we already miss him so much.
James always had a ready smile. We loved taking James and Marcia on sailing trips to Catalina as he was a great first mate. He loved making exotic drinks and once brought a blender on a trip do we could have the perfect margaritas. He couldn’t stand to prune things in their garden and I was surprised how certain plants became trees and flourished. You could always find books on tape on his back seat in the car. He loved to read and read a wide variety of subjects. I took fencing in college and occasionally James and I would thrust and parry. He will be missed.
