Jim's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jim Price, a cherished member of the Long Beach community, on November 18, 2023, at the age of 70. Born on July 23, 1953, in Redlands, Jim was known for his booming voice, his bold and envelope-pushing sense of humor, and his deep love for cars and trucks.
Jim spent 35 years as a meat cutter at Hughes and Ralphs, where he was much more than a colleague – he was a source of relentless humor and camaraderie. He had a natural talent for making friends with everyone he met, often engaging them with his sharp wit and memorable lines from his favorite movies.
His passion for cars, trucks, drag racing, and NASCAR was a significant part of his life. Jim loved sharing stories about his automotive adventures, whether it was a new project in his garage, an exhilarating race, or just a leisurely drive (at 100MPH).
Jim was a beloved husband to Carolyn Dorsett, a loving father to Amber Murphy and Erin Price-Hale, and a dear brother to Ricky, Jay, Joseph, John, and Billy Kles. He is also survived by his stepmother, Janice Salerno; his sisters, Deborah Chimel and Denise Kles; his sons-in-law, Erik Hale and Robert Vinson; and his cherished grandchildren, Luna Eris, Makena Hale, and Ashton Vinson. His many nieces and nephews, along with a wide circle of friends, will deeply miss his vibrant presence.
A celebration of Jim's life is scheduled for December 9, 2023, at 1881 San Cataldo in Long Beach at 11 am. We warmly invite all who knew Jim, including his friends from the automotive world and his colleagues from Ralphs and Hughes, to join us in honoring a life that was full of passion, laughter, and love.
In lieu of flowers, donations to [a local dog rescue or animal charity] would be appreciated, honoring Jim's love for animals.
Jim's legacy is one of laughter, boldness, and an open heart. He connected with people through his humor and shared passions, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His stories, his laughter, and his spirited personality will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
