Dave's obituary

James David Rinehart, “David”, 63, was welcomed home to be with the Lord on Easter weekend, Saturday, April 3rd, 2021. He was born August 6th, 1957 to James and Ruth (Madsen) Rinehart in Marion, IN.

David grew up in a loving family in Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1975. He attended college at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration degree in 1980. He worked for over 40 years in marketing and business development as well as manufacturing general manager in the metals industry. David was recently completing the CEC requirements for Credentialing as a Certified Professional Coach and membership in the International Coaching Federation. In addition to his work in coaching certifications, David achieved the status of Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner.

He married the love of his life, Davia R. Young, on August 11th, 1979 in Kokomo, IN and they were blessed with 41 years of marriage. Dave and Davia welcomed two daughters into the world in 1984 and 1987.

David was an amazing father. His humor and patience allowed his daughters to flourish and thrive in their dreams. He was always there to listen, give advice or be a shoulder to lean on.

To say that David was a hard-working and a determined individual is truly an understatement. He wanted only the best for his family and provided beyond expectation. His knowledge, guidance and role as a spiritual leader was a foundation for his family. David was a loving, dedicated and supportive husband and father. He was overjoyed to become a grandfather in 2019 and 2020 and always looked forward to time with his grandchildren.

David loved Jesus and served through several ministries, sharing his faith with those who surrounded him throughout his life. He loved to teach and his home was often a place for gathering, discussion and study of scripture.

David loved music and especially enjoyed jazz. He played trombone in his high school and college years. He also loved playing the piano and guitar. He always knew how to entertain with stories. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He was always up for a hand of Euchre and to simply spend time or have a good conversation over coffee with loved ones and friends.

David is survived by his wife Davia; his two daughters, Caroline (Dane) Lembrick and Marissa (Ian) Kells; two grandchildren, Declan Lembrick and Reed Kells. He is also survived by his father, James E. Rinehart; sister, Diana (Mark) Yadgir; sister in-law, Lisa (Dan) Allen; niece, Laura Van Hagen; nephew, James (Tabitha) Pooler; niece, Cherish Allen; great-niece, Lena Van Hagen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth (Madsen) Rinehart; mother and father in-law, Joan and David Young; nephew, Jason Allen.

A memorial and celebration of life service will be held June 1st, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brighton, MI.
