Irene Yenping Chu Hsu
Background
Irene was always opposed to wasting time and money. For her memorial, she explicitly requested that it not be a fancy affair requiring expensive travel, hotels, venues, and large floral arrangements. Instead, she wanted to encourage all potential expenses to be directed to her favorite nonprofit, the Zigen Fund.
Irene felt a deep alignment with the Zigen Fund's mission, which supports sustainable improvements in the living, social, and environmental conditions of impoverished communities in rural areas of China; the conditions Irene experienced during her early years in China.
