Griffin's obituary
Griffin James passed away very suddenly on Saturday, July 30, from an undiagnosed heart condition, only two weeks after moving from Boston, MA to Champaign, IL.
Griffin loved skiing, hiking and knowing every airplane tail number. More than anything, he loved his family, friends and wife, Sara, deeply and was so incredibly excited to become a dad to a baby boy due this January. Griffin will always be remembered for his quick wit, loyalty, work ethic and eternal commitment to those he loved. He could not wait to become a dad. He is survived by his wife, Sara; small brown dog, Clementine; parents, Peter and Katherine James, of South Deerfield, MA; brother, Garrett (Olga) James, and nephew, Kieran James, of Scarsdale, NY; brother in law, Josh (Tracy) Royston, of Pittsburgh, PA; and innumerable friends, aunts, uncles, cousins and colleagues throughout the world. We will never understand how something so horrible can happen to someone so loving, kind and generous, but are forever grateful for memories of Griffin and stories of all those he impacted.
The Griffin H. James Memorial Trust has been established to benefit Griffin and Sara's little boy, Peter William James. Donations are being accepted here or directly through First Federal Bank of Champaign, IL. Specific funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date, but all who loved him will be very welcome at a service in South Deerfield, Massachusetts in early fall, 2022.
