Will always cherish your friendship Greg! Thanks for all the memories!
Our thoughts and prayers for the whole family. Greg was very special and everyone here in Omaha is sending our love!
We have known Greg for over 40 years. We met him (and Heather) through the group that all worked at CE Lummus in the early 1980s. We had many get togethers at our homes, attended many CART races, and had fun outings in New York City until 1994 when we moved to Arizona. (Funny that Greg and Heather were supposed to be the ones to move to Arizona.) They visited us here several times and most recently in January 2020. We also had some great visits with them in Santa Rosa, CA. Greg was a great husband, father, brother and friend. I really miss John and Greg’s bi-weekly calls (which they always had on speaker) talking about formula 1 racing, family updates, and health. The last four years were a very tough road for him, but he was always positive and handled every bump with grace and hope. He had wonderful support from Heather and his family. Although he is not here physically with us, he is not suffering from this terrible disease anymore. I know that he will be with us at the celebration of life. Greg truly lived a wonderful life and left a wonderful legacy through his family. He will always be in our hearts.

Greg's humor, generosity, and ability to put everyone at ease was a huge part of what made the Shortway home the place to be. His presence will always be deeply felt emanating from the love in your wonderful families. I extend my most heartfelt condolences to all who celebrate Greg's life.

I remember Greg for being one of the nicest, smartest guys I ever worked with. He hired me as a consultant to work for him in 1996. It didn't take long for me to realize what a good guy he was.

Over the course of the next several decades we would have many conversations about various topics - family, politics, TV shows, work -  of course, and sports. Actually, I am not a car guy but Greg patiently explained to me the difference between Formula One and NASCAR. And then he tried to explain Indy car. Frankly, I'm still a bit confused but his passion for all that was amazing.

I am greatly appreciative for Greg not making fun of my lack of handy man skills. He would talk about the various construction efforts he was undertaking on their house and I would just nod.

When he and Heather moved to California, we lost touch a bit but we did stay in contact via e-mail, usually with Steve Maurin in the loop as well.

I knew Greg was not doing well with his health. When he called a few months back I was aware that this was probably the last time we would talk. We mostly spoke about family - his kids and grandkids, my kids and grandkids. We did not speak about work at all. As I had mentioned to Bob Toro, I was glad this was a phone call and not a video call because I wouldn't have wanted him to see the tears.

He was a wonderful guy and I feel for his family losing such a good man.
