Grant's obituary

In loving memory – Grant Michael Hollander 1983-2023

With heavy hearts we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Grant Michael Hollander, who left us much too soon at age 39. Grant was a cherished son, a devoted brother, and a friend to many. He departed this world in June 2023, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, loyalty, and unwavering love.

Grant was born on October 9, 1983 to parents Michael Gene and Maynor (Meg) Grant Hollander. From the beginning he exhibited an indomitable spirit, a quirky sense of mischief, and a quick aptitude for all things electronic. Growing up in Buda, Texas, alongside his older sister Anne, the siblings formed an unbreakable bond through shared adventures, friends, and sports. In 1994 the family relocated to Southlake, Texas, where Grant graduated from Carroll Senior High School in 2002. Following graduation, Grant attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. There he made the decision to join the United States Marine Corps, and he completed basic training in San Diego, California. During his tenure as a Marine, Grant excelled in computer science, a skill he carried into his professional work life as a Computer Network Administrator. He also earned multiple certifications in cybersecurity, helping organizations protect their computer systems from unauthorized use. Grant touched the lives of countless people professionally and personally by his generosity and concern for others. Whether lending a helping hand to a friend in need, or supporting his family, Grant’s presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him. And no one could ever forget Grant’s quick sense of humor.

Grant is survived by his father, Mike Hollander of Spring, Texas; his mother, Meg Hollander of Indian Land, South Carolina; his sister Anne Hollander of Richardson, Texas; and his children, James Hollander of Bedford, Texas, and Calvin Markowski of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

A graveside service and burial will take place in October at Sunset Hill Memory Garden in Rome, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests charitable donations to a cause close to us, The HeadStrong Project, dedicated to providing resources to combat veterans struggling with PTSD.

Grant’s memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew him, even though his time with us was short. We will remember his impact on our lives, the stories we share, the void he leaves, and the abiding love we hold for him.

Rest, Grant, in eternal peace.
