We abruptly moved to San Diego two years ago, shortly after Grant's death. Jennifer could simply not bear to be around the endless, wonderful memories of 18 years in Tiburon, Marin County, raising a family with their late Father Jeff, and then going from a family of 5 to a family of 3, after both losses. Jessica was starting her Sophomore year at SDSU that fall, and we decided to move as a family, to support her in the transition to in-person college and attempt to heal our hearts. Jennifer was able to transfer with McKinsey, to the Southern California office, and loves being part of the community there. We landed in Carlsbad, south Carlsbad on the Encinitas border in the La Costa area, and have been healing and loving life in San Diego, to the very best of our ability.
Jessica will be a Senior at SDSU this fall, with a major in Business Management, and a Minor in Sustainability. Gavin will be a 10th grader at San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas.
We are so very grateful for all of the love and support that we received from the community after both family deaths. We regret not being able to personally acknowledge all of the support, but please know that every single meal, note, text, flower, prayer, and service were noticed, appreciated, and helped us to grieve and survive during the heart-crushing times.
We had the intention of returning to Marin a few months after we moved, but it took us over two years to have the strength, and we are now ready to return to Marin and honor Grant with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service. Grant loved Tiburon and Marin more than anyplace else in the world, and he traveled extensively all over the world the last five years of his life on his own accord. We are really looking forward to reconnecting with all of our friends in Marin, and to be able to grieve and heal as a community. We hope that we can all find a way through the sorrow and come away from the weekend with a renewed sense of peace and hope.
Jennifer, Jessica, and Gavin, and other friends and family will be staying at The Tiburon Lodge, and will be around Thursday through Sunday for visits with friends and family. We really look forward to having time to spend with everyone, including Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights, and Sunday morning. We want to see you! We will add events here if any are planned.
We’d greatly appreciate you sharing your memories of Grant in the Memories section of this site, and uploading any stories and photos you may have. Grant touched everyone he knew-with his smile, charisma, sense of humor, intellect, gentle loving nature, entrepreneurship, sense of adventure, travel, the arts, creativity, forward looking vision, and uncanny ability to create and run businesses .
We are very blessed that our former Youth Pastor from Hillside Church, Ryan Reed, will be flying out from Florida to be with us and officiate the service, as he was one of the closest mentors for Grant, and they shared many trips and memories together.
