Francisco José Garcia (aka Pacho), 61, passed away on November 26 in his home in Long Beach, CA, surrounded by his loving family after bravely battling cancer for over 4 years. Francisco was born in Medellin, Colombia, in 1963 to Emiro Garcia and Marta Lia Garcia (née Ospina).
He came to the United States with an unstoppable drive and creative vision that propelled him from the humble beginnings of an immigrant dishwasher in Pittsburg, PA, to a 30-year career that took him all over the world. He ascended to become a global executive and a well-known expert in the retail packaging industry, making impactful contributions to the sustainable packing movement. His generosity and creativity defined his path in life. He was a mentor and cherished friend to so many in his industry and beyond.
He was a loving father to Maya and Liv and a dedicated husband to Natasha. He is survived by his wife, daughters, and siblings Martha (and her sons), Carlos, and Luis Fernando (and his family). His mother, Marta Lia (1940-2024), and father, Emiro (1935-1977), predeceased him.
Services will be held on Friday, December 27, at 3 PM (PST), followed by a reception at
St. Luke's Episcopal Church

In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends and family bring unopened new packs of men's boxer shorts, women's underwear or socks to the service to support St. Luke's Shower Program for Long Beach's unhoused community. Francisco José García (también conocido como Pacho), falleció de 61 años,el 26 de noviembre en su casa de Long Beach, California, rodeado de su familia que tanto amaba y después de luchar valientemente contra el cáncer durante más de 4 años. Francisco nació en Medellín, Colombia, en 1963, hijo de Emiro García y Marta Lía García Ospina.
