Francesca Gay Thornhill (Young), passed away after an eight-year battle with cancer on August 8, 2022, in Dallas, Texas, with her loving family by her side.

Francesca was born September 7, 1960 at Edwards Air Force Base near Bakersfield, California to John Robert & Effie June Young.

Growing up in a military family, Francesca and her siblings traveled to and lived in many places.

Eventually, Francesca landed in Dallas, Texas where she met the love of her life, Michael. They married on May 22nd, 1982. Together, they had four amazing children. While raising her four kids, Francesca spent her time teaching 3rd grade and leading a local Girl Scout troop all while also running a busy household. She really was a superwoman.

Francesca and Michael made Irving, Texas their family home for many years before moving to Fort Worth, Texas.

She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2014. Our warrior continued treatments for all of these years while still providing for her family by doing insurance billing for several medical offices.

She spent as much of her free time as possible with the lights of her life, her four grandchildren. She would drop anything for her grandkids, at any time.

Francesca was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Young; twin brother, Robert Allen Young; and honorary family member, Oliver Lewis Eastman.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Michael Thornhill of Bedford, Texas; sons Taylor Thornhill of Bedford, Texas and Parker Thornhill (wife, Danielle) of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters Lanelle Thornhill (fiancé, Graham Coke) of Saginaw, Texas & Nicole Thornhill (life partner, Nobbie Kim) of Ventura, California; her mother, Effie June Young and sister, Cynthia Young (husband, Frank Swanson) of Solvang, California; grandchildren Ava, Tyler, Blake & Hayes Thornhill; her beloved dogs, Pancake and Bolt, all of her furry grandchildren & many other loved family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 5681 Dorothy Lane, Little Elm, TX 75068 from 11:00am until 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter in Francesca’s name and honor.
