In lieu of flowers

Please consider a contribution to In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Bertumen.

Background

We are heartbroken as we navigate the loss of our mom, Elizabeth Nemenzo Bertumen, who meant everything to our family and so many others.

For over 30 years, she created a space rooted in love, culture, and connection. Through her leadership in the Tahitian dance community, she brought people together, built lifelong friendships, and gave so many a place to belong. She was also the founder of Heiva i San Francisco, an annual celebration she hosted both online and in person that connected dancers and musicians from around the world and helped uplift the tahitian dance and music culture in such a meaningful way.

To us, she was not only our mom, but the heart of a community that became family.

We are asking for support to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, as well as to continue the events and spaces she created, including Heiva i San Francisco, so her legacy can live on and continue bringing people together.

Any contribution, no matter the size, means so much to our family during this time.

Thank you for your love, your prayers, and for being part of the life she built. We will carry her with us always.
