David's obituary
It hurts my heart to announce that David Anthony Villanueva unexpectedly passed away in Austin, Texas on January 21st, 2023. David was 31 years old and living in Austin with his partner Emily and his newborn son, Anthony Ray.
While David suffered from addiction from the age of 16, that is not what defined him. He had several periods of sobriety and because of his strong will to be the best human possible, he never quit fighting. David left Houston and moved to Austin seven years ago, living with his sister Ashley and brother-in-law Nathan for four years before striking out on his own in 2020.
David made Austin his home with the support of his work family and friends, and found many new hobbies and outdoor activities; he loved to go hiking, biking and play disc golf. David was an intelligent and inquisitive soul that was engaging, compassionate, and competitive in everything he did. David met his life partner Emily, fell in love, and helped deliver their son just days before his passing. David was proud, excited, and determined to be the best father he could be.
Those that have known David throughout his life have said that he was easily the funniest guy in the room. He had no boundaries when it came to humor, and would do whatever it took to get a laugh - even if it was at his own expense. His engaging personality enabled him to find something in common with everyone he met. Being inclusive was his superpower.
David is survived by his mother, Laura Lestus, sister and brother-in-law Ashley Everhart and Nathan Pieper, his partner Emily Nobles, and their son Anthony Ray Villanueva. It is kindly asked that the privacy of his partner and their son be respected during this very difficult time.
David is also survived by his step father Scott Lestus, step grandfather Richard Robles, aunts Cathy and Cosette, uncle and aunt Richard and Julia.
No memorial service or funeral is immediately planned. The family will notify family, friends and loved ones when it is scheduled. Many of you have graciously reached out asking how you can help; if you would like to give a gift that would help offset the costs of David's end of life arrangements, as well as contribute to the well-being of his surviving young family, you can do so through the memorial fund listed here.
