David's obituary

In Loving Memory of David Spencer Bolin

June 26, 1953 – November 24, 2024

David Spencer Bolin, 71, of Seattle, WA, passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2024, while hiking with his beloved partner, Pamela. He died of natural causes.

A devoted father, grandfather, partner, and friend, David will be remembered for his unbridled enthusiasm. His warm heart, strong hands, and a spirit that never stopped tinkering, that was David Bolin. An ever-optimist, he had a gift for turning strangers into friends and solving problems through connection, kindness, and a good pair of work gloves.

Any outdoor activity was David’s sanctuary—a quiet morning walking along the beach, or a round of golf in the morning dew- brought him peace. He also enjoyed fishing, skiing, but, most often, he found himself focused on home projects with a hammer or drill in hand. Few things pleased him more than a well-executed idea and a cold beer at the end of a productive day.

David's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandsons. His face lit up at the sound of their laughter, and he treasured every adventure in the great outdoors and every storybook moment, cuddled up inside.

He enjoyed a long and respected career in Seattle’s real estate development world, known as a connector, a craftsman, and a steady hand. He had an uncanny ability to make new connections with the people he worked with. His most used catch phrase would have been: “Oh you should meet ___! I’ll send you their info tonight!”

In his later years, David embraced a life rich in experience—rafting the Colorado River, fishing in Alaska and Colorado, visiting close friends in Mexico, and making treasured memories on family vacations in Hawaii.

Two years ago, David met someone with an equal amount of unbridled enthusiasm for life, his beloved Pamela. With her, he found deep companionship, and she helped him shift his lifelong rhythm of serving others, to finally start serving himself a little—teaching him to balance a little work with a lot more play, joy, and fun. Together, they shared a life of hiking, golfing, and splitting time between Arizona and Seattle.

David leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, and craftsmanship. He taught those around him to fix what’s broken, cherish the quiet, trust in God’s plan, and always make time for others.

He is survived by his daughters Mackenzie (Dave) Martin and Delaney (Tyler) Severson; grandsons Arlo and Abraham; his sisters Gail Woodard, Carol Ramey, and Nancy Brown; his beloved partner, Pamela.

At David’s request, a small family gathering will be held to celebrate his life.
