This is the Scout Law. Danny (his childhood name) was the embodiment of these words as a boy and also a man.
I’ll never forget the times we had and the friend he was.
My condolences to Bev, Nate,  Mrs. Ferguson, and family. He was a good one.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear about Dan's passing.  We go back 20+ years.  Dan and I often worked with Chad Taliaferro and Gary Picou out of the Dallas office on new customer solution opportunities. Lots of success stories!  His attitude, professionalism and deep respect for others just left you with a positive vibe and willingness to get things done.  Huge loss for Festo and my deepest condolences to his family.

My heart goes out to all of your family and especially Nate. I wish that we had gotten to know our fine neighbor Dan longer. He was a fine person who gave a lot of himself to others. Wish I could have heard him play the guitar.

Paul and I will always cherish the fun memories from just hanging out at your house, golf, Jimmy Buffet and the Arkansas game with our secret pig signals (haha). Dan always had a smile and was just a great guy to be around. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear the news.

Dan was my All-Star sales manager in 2004/2005 and was the best manager I’d had up to that date. He brought so much to our joint sales calls and was always warmly received and highly respected by our customers. He augmented my presence at every customer and made ME look like the All-Star...whatta’ guy Dan was!

Any sales guy couldn’t ask for more in a manager; he always listened intently and offered sage advice rather than harsh criticism.

I’ll fly my Festo flag at half staff in honor of Mister Dan Ferguson.

I met Dan at U of A in 1984 at the beginning of our sophomore year. With his remarkable humor and energy Dan became the nucleus of a very close and large group of friends who proceeded to do everything together including partying, spelunking, cheering for the Razorbacks, playing intramural sports, and even occasionally studying.

Just a few stories about Danny.

Intramurals. His sports prowess was NOT legend but with his attitude and spirit he played nearly every intramural sport and always convinced the rest of us to go along…and made playing that much more fun for all of us. Picture Dan enthusiastically playing just about everything, football, softball, frisbee golf, water polo etc… while wearing his “C2 Party Reptiles” highlighter yellow T shirt that literally glowed under stadium lighting.

Dorm Warfare. Dan was well practiced in the art of Dorm Warfare and when the mood struck could be found “pennying” a friend’s door shut or expertly releasing a can of shaving cream into a buddy’s rooms right after piercing the shaving cream with a can opener (kids don’t try this at home).

During snowball season he was a key member of a 6-person team operating a surgical-tubing snowball slingshot, launching snow way uphill at the frat boys. (Yes, we won!)

Mustard. You may not know that Danny hated mustard with a completely unreasonable passion; knowing that, one evening as a riff on the old Charleston Heston 10 Commandments movie several of us painted a LOT of mustard on his door jamb and then gently knocked.   Dan was so mad he refused to go through the door, exited his room through a window, and proceeded via a balcony to another room to reenter the dorm. I think he would have punched me but couldn’t stop laughing to do it.

The Shower/Hot Tub. One evening, applying burgeoning engineering skills, Dan and the gang decided to apply tape and garbage bags to seal off the common shower area in the dorm to make a hot tub. It worked! (Until it did not work!)

The Ant Men. Being a bit on the short side, Dan, Craig and I decided to combine our not-super powers to collectively wrestle our exceptionally tall buddies (defined as men over 5’6”). The Ant men conducted many epic raids and defeated many opponents, one at a time. Ant men unite!

Dan brought out pieces of ourselves we did not know we had and made us better. His capacity for Joy has shaped many of us and when I remember Dan I will always smile.

Dan,

You are finally home, back to your creator, completely whole and new again.  Praying for your sweet little fam, that the love and grace, and mercy of our ever-loving father envelop them in their time of grief and loss of you this side of heaven. But there will be a glorious reunion someday. Take care. See you in heaven. Please give a warm fatherly bear hug to my sweet little Lorenzo.

I met Dan in 2003 when he was our Festo sales rep. We developed a great friendship while converting all of our pneumatic parts to Festo products. I loved working with Dan and stayed in touch with him during his time away from Festo and then after he returned.  He was awesome  to work with and a pleasure to spend time with playing golf or talking about guitars and music. I know he is enjoying his new life in heaven with his savior. I will miss you my friend. I will be praying for your family during this time.

Dear Beverly & Nate,

I have worked with Dan for many years and always enjoyed being his colleague. I am so sorry to hear about his passing yet believe he is in a much better place. I admired Dan for his positive attitude throughout his battle with cancer. He will truly be missed.

I pray that the Lord will comfort you during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Ray Leiter
