Danny's obituary
In Loving Memory of Reverend Danny Benjamin Erwin
February 7, 1953 – February 11, 2026
Reverend Danny B. Erwin, affectionately known as Pastor Erwin, the devoted Pastor of Way of the Cross Baptist Church, was called home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026. A man of boisterous joy and infectious laughter, Danny lived a life dedicated to faith, family, and serving others.
Born on February 7, 1953, in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Annette King. At the age of twenty-four, Danny gave his life to the Lord and was ordained a Pastor in 1981. Danny’s ministry spanned nearly 50 years and was defined by powerful, persuasive preaching. But his ministry didn't stop at the pulpit. A master of the Excel spreadsheet, he was a meticulous planner who loved people deeply and God above all.
Danny was a patriarch who invested heavily in the lives of his grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Whether he was imparting life lessons or engaging in one of his legendary debates, he was always present. No topic was off-limits for Danny; he loved a spirited discussion and would happily debate politics, family dynamics, or deep theology for hours—always with a sharp wit and humor that made even his most spirited arguments a core memory.
Danny was a distinguished serviceman, serving in the Navy for 12 ½ years before transitioning into civil service as a GS-14. He held a master’s degree in business management and retired at the age of sixty-two.
Though preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Ann) Erwin, Danny’s heart remained full. He is survived by his children: Michael Erwin, Valerie Erwin, Daniel Erwin, Amy Peters, Abigail Erwin, and Amanda Simpson; and his sons-in-law, Michael Peters and Robert Simpson.
Danny was also blessed with the love of his devoted fiancée, Annette Gregory, who was a cherished companion and a constant source of support.
His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Nichelle Erwin, MiyQuebah Erwin, JheCuan Erwin, Quanejha Erwin, Noah Peters, Amelia Peters, Olivia Peters, Jazzlin Erwin, Skye Simpson, Torrel Erwin and Alishah Erwin; as well as two great-grandchildren, Nyla Ramsey- Erwin and Miyori Smallwood
Rev D.B. Erwin leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and a family built on a solid foundation. He has fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. 2Timothy 4:7
