Dana's obituary
Dana Christensen, 43, of Tega Cay, SC, passed away on August 02, 2022.
To sum up Dana’s life in only a few paragraphs would be an impossible task – but hey we'll give it a go! Dana Kyle Christensen was born to Patricia and David Christensen in Bethesda, Maryland. He grew up in Thousand Oaks, California and Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. Dana’s father, David Christensen, worked as an engineer in the U.S. and Middle East. He met Dana’s mother, Patricia Christensen, while he was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and she was serving as a nurse in the U.S. Navy. Although both of his parents came from small towns, they had a desire to travel that Dana inherited 100%.
Dana graduated from Thousand Oaks High School and and then went on to study economics at the University of California Santa Barbara. We hear they have a good economics program, but Dana clearly chose the college for the surf break! His freshman dorm was on the coast looking out to the ocean.
Somehow he managed to put his board down long enough to graduate with his bachelor’s in 2001. He then found his way to Denver, Colorado and next to Tampa, Florida.
Dana’s mother had moved to the Tampa area and this is where Dana began his big journey into transportation brokerage, the dazzling career! He excelled at it though and truly enjoyed the hustle! He met Lauren while working in Tampa and they quickly realized that they both had the travel bug.
After a year of dating, they decided to ditch the U.S. for a bit and spend a couple of years teaching abroad and traveling. Dana and Lauren returned to the good ole USA in 2008 and married in 2009. They had their first daughter, Claire Christensen, in 2012 and their second daughter, Chloe Christensen, in 2014.
Dana worked in the logistics field until 2020 when he decided to pursue a dream of working near water. He grew up in pools swimming and playing water polo. He made the decision to open a pool cleaning and repair company and it was successful almost immediately.
Dana was a determined and ambitious. He was also the funniest and most charismatic guy in the universe. He made and kept friends through all his travels. This is because people loved him, and we still love him. We will always love him. We will always remember him.
He was such an amazing human with incredible energy. Everyone who was lucky enough to know him felt it immediately. He just possibly felt something else that we may never fully understand. We know the truth though. We know how awesome and fun Dana was and the happiness he brought into our lives. We know Dana.
So they say…or ole Alfie says…
'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
- Alfred Lord Tennyson
Although our time with Dana was cut incredibly short, at least we all know that we were the ones lucky enough to have had him in our lives.
We love you, Dana. We always will. We know you are with us. Well, maybe you will be with us when you get done surfing that wave. Stop having so much fun up there. Can’t you see we are grieving?
We love you!
*P.S. You were the best daddy ever and Claire and Chloe will forever know it. Thank you.
