Personal note from Cyndy's Family

Dear All,

As you all know, a bright light in Academia, an amazing mom and wife, and an incredible advisor/mentor for Ph.D. students is no longer with us. After courageously facing cancer for five years and overcoming numerous challenges, Cyndy is now at peace. During these years, Cyndy never stopped living her life, even in the midst of several intrusive medical treatments, making sure that she enjoyed special moments with Mark, her daughters Becky and Amanda, her daughter-in-law, Raianna, as well as her precious granddaughter Makenna.

Now, it's time to commemorate Cyndy, her life, and everything she has meant to all of us. Mark, Becky and Amanda would appreciate it if you could take a little time to write something about how Cyndy has touched your life. Mark has included some examples below:

The general prompt would be anything that captures what Cyndy meant to you—a favorite memory, a story, a lesson, a feeling. You might write a few sentences or a few pages. Here are some more prompts for inspiration:

Memories & Anecdotes:
- What’s a favorite memory you have of Cyndy?
- Can you recall a time Cyndy made you laugh, comforted you, or surprised you?
- What was your first impression of her? Did it change over time?
- Was there a moment you think captures who she was?

Reflections:
- What did Cyndy teach you—directly or indirectly?
- How did knowing Cyndy make a difference in your life?
- What values or qualities did she embody that you admired?
- What do you find yourself repeating that she once said or did?

Personal Notes:
- If you could say one more thing to her, what would it be?
- Is there something you wish you had told her?
- What do you miss most?

Creative Options:
- A poem, letter, or short tribute
- A photo with a caption or story behind it
- A piece of music, art, or writing she inspired

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I am sure that whatever you put together will bring great comfort to Cyndy's family. Please feel free to share this memory book with others who knew Cyndy.

Lots of love,
Indu.
