Cathy was an extraordinary friend. She had an amazing presence and energy. We saw it immediately when we noticed her at church. She and Rick exuded love and kindness. I thought to myself, "This is church."

Cathy gave so much to the world. She could comfort young children whose mother passed away, and somehow engage them until they reached a kind of peace to share a smile.

Cathy had a great sense of humor. She was a terrific hostess and a perfect guest. She gave herself to anyone who needed her and she will be missed more than words can describe.  Our love and deepest sympathy to Rick, Jessica, Daniel, Ben and the entire family. She was something special.

Peace be with you. Donna & Marvin Rezabek

I’m so sorry to hear about Cathy’s passing. I know how much she meant to everyone. She was always so kind and welcoming whenever we visited - I have fond memories of the Christmas in Atlanta.

Please know I’m thinking of you all and sending love during this incredibly hard time.

We are so saddened to hear of Cathy's passing.  We met Cathy and Rick when our daughter and her family moved into the home next door to them in Woodstock, GA.  Cathy and I had an immediate connection as we both had spent more than 30 years in the education system - I was a Speech Pathologist and then Elementary School Principal in Florida.  We loved the time spent together with Cathy and Rick when visiting Woodstock and have wonderful memories of the kindness, caring and compassion that Cathy always shared.   Cathy will be missed - we were indeed fortunate that she touched our lives - we shall cherish the memories.

The Hilgert family is a local farm family just like the Gearhart family.  My childhood memory is of our dad's talking farming back and forth.  Cathy was a St Joe classmate, and we reconnected a few times at reunions.   I do remember her smile and how she looked just like her mother.   From the comments left here, she left quite an impression and formed many friendships.  From the Hilgert family to the Gearhart family, you will be in our prayers.   Please take care of yourselves and each other.

Martha (Marty) & Mary Ann Hilgert

Cathy is one of those people who just made life brighter. I’ll always remember meeting her in Atlanta & Miami — warm, welcoming, and full of life. She has this effortless way of making you feel like family, even if you’d just met. The amazing mom of my great friend Dan, it’s clear where he gets his heart, humor, and strength. Over the years, my friendship with Dan has meant so much, and Kathy’s love and influence were always part of that. She was a wonderful mother and a beautiful soul who brought joy wherever she went. She’ll be missed deeply, but her light lives on in all of us lucky enough to have known her.

Cathy was a Murdock Elementary co- worker and Murdock Book Club Member. She was a joy to work with and a good friend. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

Sending our deepest condolences to Rick, Jessica, Dan, and Ben.

You are in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts.

I have so many incredible and lasting memories from the Fogel house growing up, and I know there are many others that do too.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Cathy. I'll always think of her fondly whenever I look back on my time spent living in Woodstock. She was such a good person and friend, introducing me to many of our neighbors. Your yard was always amazing because of her love of gardening.  She will be greatly missed by many.
Cathy was a kind spirit who touched the lives of all who knew her. I taught with Cathy at Murdock Elementary. She brought joy to all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing
