Carrie was a larger than life part of our family from way back in our SIU days until her last day on this earth.  She had an unforgettable smile, beautiful bright blue eyes, a great sense of humor and a no nonsense approach to all that life threw at her.  She would do just about anything for her family or friends and was also a true patriot.  We will all miss Carrie terribly, and yet her energy was so powerful that her spirit will always be among us.
Our Beautiful Carrie & Gr…
Florida
Our Beautiful Carrie & Grandma
Last year I was sitting in the brewery I go to every Sunday night in the small town of St. Clair Michigan. I was telling the staff that I wouldn’t be there next week as I was going back to Florida. One of the new waitresses (April) behind the bar said she was from S.W. Florida and I said that I was too. She told me that she graduated from Estero (2012) and I was shocked and told her that I did too (1994). We started talking and laughing thinking what are the odds of this. That’s when Carrie and Ashley came in and sat down. As we were reminiscing about Florida, Carrie mentioned that they were both from S.W. Florida. I told her that it’s weird that April and I both graduated from Estero. That’s when Carrie said she graduated from Estero also (1996 I think). We talked the rest of the night and her and Ashley seemed like amazing people. The brewery closed at 8:30 and I know we kept them open past 10:00. There were probably only 10 people in the brewery that night and 3 of us graduated from Estero which is about 1300 miles away (what are the odds). I was extremely saddened by reading about her passing and I’m glad I got to spend those few hours with her and Ashley!!!
I have many fond memories of Carrie when we worked together at SIU. My sincere condolences to Ashley, Austin and all of her friends and family that loved her so much. Rest well in Heaven sweet Carrie.
Carrie loved to do anything that allowed her to laugh out loud ! If she couldn’t laugh of course she would just smile. Every memory I have with Carrie was full of fun, if didn’t matter what it was we were doing , she was going to make sure we had fun doing it. So full of life that girl , life isn’t going to know what to do without her !
