Bryce's obituary

Bryce Hart Bensman (February 14, 2011 – March 19, 2025)

Bryce Bensman entered this world with a pink love explosion on Valentine’s Day 2011 and won our hearts from the start.

In his 14 years, Bryce lived a remarkable and full life and touched so many people. He was kind and fun and witty and silly and cared deeply for people who are hurting or disadvantaged. He tried to hit a homerun every single time he played baseball and took that same mindset to life in general. Bryce loved nature and being on the farm.

It seems Bryce was born knowing that life is short, and he leapt out of bed each day with a loving heart and a desire to work and try hard. Bryce chose to embrace life’s experiences, especially common everyday ones like hugging his Mom with both arms, petting his dog, making people laugh, eating ice cream, and savoring a pink sky at sunset.

Bryce touched everyone with his love. He made little kids feel special, and compelled adults to try a little harder to focus on the things that make us human. He was adored by his Mom, Dad, Will, Jack, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. This world is a better place because of Bryce. He was magic.

Service to express gratitude for Bryce’s life and to find the lessons from his time on earth will be Thursday, April 3 at 4pm at Church of the Resurrection Leawood (Main Sanctuary A, 5009 W 137th Street, Leawood, KS 66224). Bryce requests that you wear bright colors, especially pink. No suits allowed unless they’re really, really cool (“drippy”). God is good.

Flowers weren’t Bryce’s style. Instead, perhaps you’d consider a donation to “Bryce’s Better Days Fund” which will be used to put good into the world and help young people who need love. (Checks payable to Church of the Resurrection // Please write “Bryce Bensman” in memo).
