Anne Marie, Ken, Pam, and Kristy, your extended families. I can't imagine the loss you are feeling with Brett's sudden passing - as a spouse, parent, and sibling, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you. Growing up together with Brett and knowing you all my entire life, I am totally crushed and saddened.
Thinking of all the good times we had together is how I am getting through these days. I think back to some of the silly times as kids, and the great times when we were older. One time, for example, when we were 7 or 8, we each drank a 6-pack of Jolt Cola-twice the sugar, twice the caffeine. We laughed all day –everything was funny, no matter what it was. He told about his grandpa and a crop duster with Colonel Sanders...not sure if it was true, but at the time it didn't matter, it was just Funny.
From our “ Geeking out “ to all things Star Wars, Top Gun , Van Halen, and Sleepovers mixed with cheesy 80’s Action movies, topped off with 2 liters of Coke and popcorn. Our endless hours in pursuit of Super Mario and Street Fighter, or Doom on a 14.4k dial-up modem, that is how we did it, and those are some of the happiest memories I will cherish and will never forget.
Even though we are much older now, it would not take long for us to fall right into our banter on a video call or through texts. Brett was always the same genuine, caring, good person, no matter the age or distance between us. He was the closest thing to a brother I will ever have, and I will miss him very much. I am and will be forever grateful to have known him and called him my Friend.
