I don’t remember exactly how it started - this group of us, a few friends and a few siblings, getting together every few months. There were snacks and there was a very gaudy fake wrestling victory belt (I think someone found it at Value Village?), and at the centre of the action: a Monopoly board. Many hours and much smack-talk later, someone had crushed all comers, won the championship - we’d forget who by the next time we played. Through university and for many years after, just this hilarious, cozy running thread, games played every so often as we found jobs and partners and homes, tried to figure out what came next.
