Brenda's obituary
Brenda Jean (Brisson) Holda, 64, of Cape Canaveral, daughter of the late Edgar H. and Jean E. (Rampelli) Brisson, passed from this life Dec. 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones, following a hard-fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Holda of Melbourne and Evan Holda of East Granby, CT.
Brenda spent her life helping others in many facets of her nursing career at local hospitals. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1984 with her B.S. in Nursing. From floor and surgical nursing, managing operating rooms to mentoring as a preceptor for new nurses, helping others was her calling.
Raising and caring for her two sons was always her true passion.
Born in Hartford, CT, Brenda enjoyed spending time outdoors, and she thrived in the Outward Bound-style Wilderness School. She was a skilled singer and organist, and played the church organ for services at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Windsor, CT.
She also enjoyed cooking and many a family gathering featured her popular pasta sauces, lasagnas, and meatloaves.
In addition to her beloved sons, Brenda is survived by her two sisters, Linda B. Meyers and Lisa Brisson, and many cherished cousins.
Brenda’s family is grateful for the friendship their mother enjoyed with fellow registered nurse, Anne Vatalaro, of Merritt Island, and the compassionate care she provided to her friend until her last day.
As she was an avid animal lover, please consider donating to the Central Brevard Humane Society. A fundraiser in her honor is hosted on this website. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Please subscribe to email notifications for updates.
