Boyd's obituary

Boyd Irvin Booze, son of Irvin and Clara (Houpt) Booze was born on May 3, 1940 in Ogallala, Nebraska. His schooling took place in many small towns in Nebraska, as his father worked building roads for Peter Kiewit Construction. The family always returned to North Platte, NE for the winter months where Boyd and his only sibling, Carol, attended schools. Boyd graduated from North Platte High School in 1958. He excelled in math and sciences. Upon graduation, he attended Denver Institute of Electronics and graduated in eighteen months. He loved the field of electronics, which was to become his field of vocation for part of his life.

He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963 in El Paso, TX. He went through electronic schooling and remained stationed and teaching in El Paso until his discharge as a SP-5.

Boyd became a follower of Jesus Christ while in the Army and was discipled by the Navigators. This was a turning point in his life, which led to a path of leading others to Christ and discipling throughout his lifetime.

He married Virginia Ann Griffiths on May 30, 1970 in Dodgeville, WI. They had three children, Janette Clarice, Elizabeth Joy and Jonathan Boyd.

Boyd and Virginia lived their entire married life in Washington state. Boyd was on staff and involved with the Navigators for many years. He worked for Boeing Aircraft, Sunstrand Corp, and was self-employed as a contractor. Boyd ministered as one of the pastors at Antioch Bible Church in Kirkland, WA and later became director of the mission organization, Center for Leadership Development. He and Virginia were able to travel many times to Africa and around the world ministering, discipling and training church leaders, missionaries and others.

Boyd touched a myriad of lives through his love for Christ. He was always willing to use his skills in remodeling, fixing cars, new construction and helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus and others.

Boyd transitioned to heaven on November 17, 2021 at his home near Spokane with his family by his side. He was preceded to heaven by his parents, Irvin and Clara, wife, Virginia, daughter, Janette and nephew, Jeremy Jarbo. Those looking forward to seeing Boyd again are: daughter, Joy and Rafael Valdez, granddaughters Maya and Catalina; son, Jon and Anita and granddaughters, Chloe and Emma; sister, Carol and Terry Jarbo; niece, Heather Algren, nephews, Joshua and Jared Jarbo and many, many others that were touched by Boyd's life.
