Our sincere condolence to Dr. Alice Lachenal Dijamco and family. Ando is at peace with our Lord.
I first met Armando Dijamco while working at Saint Joseph's Hospital. We interacted at multiple hospital functions, patient care conferences, and at PSA, Dijamco, and Mogelnicki Christmas parties. Armando was a brilliant physician/nephrologist who enjoyed treating patients for high blood pressure and dialysis.

Armando had many loves and talents...
His loves: his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his extended families.
Armando was fiercely proud of his wife and children and loved sharing their stories and accomplishments. Oh how he was tickled to spend time with the youngest generation, too.

His talents: cooking, music, gardening, and nanotechnology.

Armando built a full-size rotisserie pit in his backyard to roast a "whole pig" (usually with an apple in its mouth) for his friends and family. His pig ended up as BBQ PORK on skewers.
He also took pride in his maple syrup glazed salmon which was second to none.
His unusual fruit medleys were scrumptious.
It was an eye-opening experience to accompany him to the international farmers market and watch him select fruits, spices, sauces and fish. Then, it was a treat to see him bring it home and create a lavish, gourmet meal.

When entertaining, Armando would sit down at the piano and accompany the invited Philippine choir and guests. He was an accomplished pianist. He also delved into fake books and jazz studies. He didn't miss a note or beat and wanted to be the best at everything.

I asked Armando and Alice to visit our rustic hydrangea garden. They brought their grandchildren to see the fairytale vignettes. Sometime later, Armando asked me to join him at the Wilkerson Mill gardens. It was the end-of-the-year sale. He filled his Honda Odyssey van with so many plants that I had to hold some on my lap. Armando never let a bargain slip away. He may have been the Clark Howard of the Philippines he was so frugally smart.
Armando would stop at Lowes and buy all their lifeless plants (hundreds of them) for pennies on the dollar. Believe it or not, he revived them and they became a mainstay in his mystical garden.
Armando had an uncanny talent for gardening. I'm not sure if he had 10 green thumbs or was just lucky. He loved propagating and would take plant clippings from his own plants or neighbor's yards and just stuck them in the ground. They would grow to be prized beauties. Was it the soil, canopy, humidity from the nearby lake or did he have a special touch?
There were no weeds in the garden---no room---his plants took up all the space. Then, he began container gardening with a variety of colored pots (wholesale, of course) and filled them with hostas, hydrangeas, roses, etc...

Shortly before he retired, he was asked to give a lecture on nanotechnology in medicine. He did extensive research and learned about the Kanzius machine, gold and iron nanoparticles, antibodies, and electromagnetic energy generating machines. He became obsessed with developing a cure for cancer with his new discoveries and introducing it to his native Philippines.
It was fascinating and enlightening to hear him describe how iron nanoparticles were mixed and bonded with antibodies (EGFR) and subsequently injected IV. After several hours, a CT scan diagnosed and revealed all the tumor cells that had engulfed the iron nanoparticles. The subject/tumor would be exposed to electromagnetic energy for several minutes which would heat up the nanoparticles, destroying all of the tumor cells. Simply amazing.

Armando, we all loved you and will miss you.
It's easy to envision you as God's physician, musician, gourmet chef, and master gardener.
May God's Peace be with you, Alice, and with all of the family.

Love,
Stan Mogelnicki

Armando was my cousin-in-law, and yet he was more like a good brother. He and Alice would reach out to see how I was doing. Together they were like a loving team always ready to help out if needed and more than willing to share their moral suppprt and advice which was something I cherished a lot. When I lived in Atlanta, Armando would call for me to join them for dinners or parties they had at their home. And it was a joy to share the fantastic dishes that Armando would cook for us all. But most of all, I enjoyed their company and relished the amazing. topics and discussions that only Armando could engage for us. Always entertaining and thought provoking, these were matters of interest and practical things in our lives. Always humble, Armando was never pushy with his opinions, instead he shared them unselfishly. And if he did not know the answer to a certain issue, he was not beyond admitting it Then, he would research the topic, look it up and then share his findings for all to benefit.
He was always supportive and engaging. He was always positive in his outlook on life. Something that I look up to. I always looked forward to our discussions. So, it took me by surprise and with deep sadness that just less than a week after he called and we had a fun phone exchange, I was awoken by a call from Rod, my brother-in-law that Armando had unexpected passed away. He was so vibrant with so many plans ahead. I had a difficult time believing that he was gone. And yet, it was true. God had called Armando to join Him.
We will miss Armando and yet, we are privileged to know that he is watching over Alice and his children and his grandchildren and indeed, even over us, with his prayers from above.

Dear Alice, I share with you, your lovely children and grandchildren our sad loss. But tell your children and their children that if they take a quiet time for themselves, they will feel Armando’s love and presence in their hearts and in their prayers.
Take care, Alice. You have my love, my thoughts and my prayers.

Sincerely your loving cousin,
Edgar Lachenal

In response to "How did you first meet Armando?"
I met Dr. armando through my high school classmate, Alice, his wife. I attended one high school reunion at his house. He cooked our meals, took pictures, drove us to many sight-seeing places around Atlanta, he played piano for us when he is not busy cooking. He was so friendly and amenable and was very easy to converse with. I talked to him about the movies he loved to watch. From our first meeting, I knew that he was a very approachable gentlemen. I was looking forward to another reunion at their house and was looking forward to playing piano duets with him. I feel very sad and teary-eyed knowing that I will not see him again on earth.
Ando used the word β€œcorollary” in one CME question at the auditorium, a word we rarely used which to me means in addition to something said. I just
looked up the dictionary and it
is from the word a crown or a garland. So as a corollary to all those other comments here I will
add one more. The last time we saw him I asked if he has any help in taking care of his garden and he says he does it all by himself. I thought that was such an herculean work to do for one person. Alice says in one of her notes, β€œ he lives in the garden” which means he spends a lot of time there. He obviously loves to stay there as a garden is one place where one can relax and commune with nature. I am
sure he likes this side of Paradise
and would rather stay here like most of us however our lives are
all in God’s plans. A time to meet and a time to part.
To dear Alice -- our sincere sympathies for Ando's passing. Such a loss; our prayers for the repose of his soul; our prayers to you and the family during this difficult time. Ando and you have been wonderful models to class 1970 and your profound generosity and loving friendship are so much appreciated. We remember during your retirement, Ando gave us a personal tour of his garden and, aside from all the numerous plants and flowers, he was so proud of the angels properly niched in the cemented sanctuary. Ando is now our special angel watching over us, his dearest family and friends. He is deeply missed!
I did not have association with Ando till we had our Major reunions. In those gatherings Ando was concerned to everybody’s welfare. He was real & genuine in his rapport to everybody. The broad smile & the vibrant aura made him outstanding endearing him to everybody. He had no dull moment & made everybody at ease & happy with all his jokes, remarks & innocent comments. He was the life of the party. When things get rough he made everything easy. With his academic expertise he was able to lecture & give seminar on the latest Nanotechnology in Medicine. What I most enjoyed was our Splendor on the Nile River Cruise. He made me special in a way of guiding, eating, joking & having fun during the cruise. This was a memorable occasion that will always be relished. Good bye my dear classmate, friend & colleague. It’s a beauty to be friends with you ANDO , and much more a JOY FOREVER. Nearer MY GOD TO ThEE.

My sincere condolences to the family of a truly talented and amazing man, Dr. Armando Dijamco.
My prayers for his eternal rest and may God be with him always. Thank you for all you've done for UST 70.
My deepest condolence to Alice and the whole family. I’m fortunate enough to be able to see Ando and Alice last Nov 2019 on my visit to Atlanta. Have not seen Ando since Clark Internship. They both took me and my son around the city and next day they both invited us to there home.We did plan to see each other here in Walnut California when they have the reunion plan with Alice family , pandemic spoils that plan . Ando told me let him know when we do have those mini Clark reunion here in Vegas learning it from Edward Quiros. He was happy to connect after more than 50 years of not seen each other.he talks about his children and grandchildren in the Bay Area I told him I could see him when he spends his winter in the Bay Area. ,having also a son and 8 siblings in the Bay Area.Sad to know that reconnection the last. Again very sad to lost a very good friend and intern classmate in Clark.

This is an expanded version of the Boombox letter I had written for my Dad on his 70th birthday, 4 1/2 years prior to his death. At the time, I felt so lucky to be able to write such a letter to thank someone during their lifetime. In this Zoom recording, I explain the back story behind each line of the letter. I did this immediately after the burial ceremony. We are at my parent's home. It was a cold, windy day and the power was out, not to return until the very end of the Novena that night when we were praying for my Dad as he transitions to perpetual light!

You can see the abbreviated eulogies my brother and I gave here: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

02:18 - Where have the decades gone? It seems like just yesterday when you scooped me up under the parallel bars when I was trying some Olympic feat. That was when you and Lolo were building the magnificent 3-story tree house. Our backyard was the best!

03:25 - And buzzing around the house in circles when you played the bumble bee song

04:12 - Our childhood was filled with music, joy, and laughter!

05:02 - You taught me -- for better or worse -- that a good laugh is often worth it!

05:42 - We always had great food, lots of adventures, surrounded by friends and family all over the country and globe. Everyone was Tita and Tito.

06:27 - Because of you and Mom, I grew up thinking that all doctors were compassionate, generous, and collaborative

09:15 - I often think how brave it was for the two of you to leave the Philippines to come to the USA

09:48 - And how lucky we are all for the paths you paved for us

10:16 - And how you consoled me after I scrambled into residency and how it didn't really matter in the end

11:24 - You and Mom were always so happy to hear from us whenever we called, any hour

12:18 - You were willing to drive many miles just so I could have more fun with my friends at the lake

13:11 - or to bring over a computer when mine broke in the late hours

13:50 - going out for Korean BBQ on a whim at 12am

15:00 - being our handyman for the repair-of-the-day

16:47 - helping with all the girls and changing diapers...

16:56 - I realize that these are countless acts of love. And for that I am deeply appreciative

17:05 - Who else whips up endless chiffon cakes just for fun?

17:12 - Or try to perfect Great-Lola's pancit recipe?

18:27 - And works tirelessly after retirement researching technology and medicine to save the lives of many people suffering?

19:43 - Or roasts a pig and invites an impromptu party over?

20:25 - Your excitement is infectious and combined with love can move mountains

20:51 - We love you so much! Thank you so much for everything! You're the best!

23:30 - Nowhere and everywhere like the sky. He always has a door to your heart.

We love you forever Daddy!

🌠Ando your story book is now completed on this earth .The end is beautiful your transcended life even more blissful now that you are home with Jesus in the palm of his hand .
Your book is filled with chapters of your multifaceted personality, of your exemplary accomplishments whether in medical school or in your stellar practice of nephrology..You embarked on projects whether in science and research lately in Nanotechnology with great passion and dedication .You wore your white medical coat and lately a chef’s apron with a heart .Most of all a life rich with family time and love and fun..This is priceless .
You have shown care and compassion when you treated the marginalized patients during a Pamagmedical mission in CDO and UPmasa mission in Alaminos .
What a unique brand you have created a legacy for the ages. Now a bright star lighting our way .
We are grieving with you Alice and family but soon tears will turn into tears of joy for he is forever in our hearts .Like Anne has said just open your heart’s door and I will say that Ando will be there
