Two weeks ago we celebrated Anna's birthday by planting a redbud tree in our back yard and read this Mary Oliver poem and Ada Limon's, The Mountain Lion. It was a harder day than usual but we were grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who helped us celebrate Anna, share food, and our collective tears. We have also felt fortunate this past month to have spent a lot of time at ultimate games, also really hard, but the sideline hugs and love help a lot. We have had more Anna sightings - rainbows over big ultimate games, a deer in the backyard Ian called me to see that was close, but not at all bothered by our presence, looking up at us every few minutes from its grazing - 'I think that's Anna' he whispered. I took a few hours off one morning this past week to go fly fishing with a good friend, and nearing the end of our time on the swift that morning, as we approached the last spot we were going to try out, a bald eagle flew up from a tree just ahead of us, powerful, beautiful, and majestic. We looked at each other and said, 'Anna'. I think Anna approved of us ditching work to go stand in that beautiful river and catch no fish but be perfectly happy with that for a few hours.

What a blessing to have such wonderful photos. The one Anna took of the pink flowers above the Alps is amazing. You guys have taken some wonderful trips together, and in the Eiffel Tower photo, Anna looks so like Steve. What a wonderful smile! Thinking of you and your loss often, with love.
