Amber's obituary
Amber “Jams” Winters
January 1, 1987 – October 29, 2025
Amber (Am) Winters, lovingly known as Jams, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 38. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Jams most recently made their home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with their beloved spouse, Britt Rickman.
Jams was a proud vegan, an extremely hard worker, and a selfless friend who embodied compassion in everything they did. They believed deeply in kindness toward all living creatures and encouraged everyone around them to care for one another. Jams found joy in the outdoors, comic books, and their cherished family of animals. They loved their wife, family, and friends with unwavering devotion.
For their family, Amber’s memory will forever be marked by the deepest love, loyalty, and warmth that could only come from the gentlest of souls. From childhood through every stage of life, Amber’s loving heart was guiding their way. Their boundless love, playful spirit, and wonderfully silly sense of humor made Amber a treasured part of their family.
The special connection Amber shared with their sisters brought endless laughter during the good times and steadfast devotion through the hard ones. Amber’s love and loyalty never wavered. To their mother, Amber was and will always remain her heart.
As a spouse, Britt will never know a love and connection deeper than the bond they shared. Jams and Britt were two inseparable peas in a pod from the moment they met and many people in Chattanooga never saw the two apart. Am took incredible care of Britt through career support, being the leader of the house, and always having the goofiest times together whether on their couch or at the top of a mountain. And Britt loved caring for Jams as well, supporting and cheering them on through each new thing life gave them. Britt and Jams made a “hand shake” deal long before their formal marriage, and lived to honor it each day.
Jams was preceded in death by their father, James “Jimmy” Winters Jr.; paternal grandmother Linda “Nana” Winters and beloved animal companions Riley, Syd, Finnley, and Murphy.
They are survived by their wife, Britt Rickman; their mother Virginia Martin; their sisters Liz Gomez, Ashley Lemaster, Kristina Chappe; and Sara Denslow; their niece Harper Jean; their maternal grandparents Stevan Dale Martin and Belen Martin; their uncle Richard Winters and Aunt Mary K.; their Aunts, Vikki Sims and Lisa McLean; their father’s wife, Edna Winters, and their adored “pack” Roo, Louis, Cooper, Toast, Frank, and Juice.
A celebration of Jams’s life will be held at Ringer’s Roller Rink (6060 Federal Blvd, San Diego, CA 92114) on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Please come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local pet shelter or farm rescue in their name.
Jams’s light, love, and gentle spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know them.
