Alsius Ellis, aged 80, of Great Pond, St Ann/Breezy Hill, St Mary, regrettably passed away peacefully on March 18, 2021.

Born in Golden Grove, St Ann to parents Beatrice and Slyvester Ellis, Alsuis was fiercely passionate about life from his childhood and directed his energy and passion in pursuit of his dreams and care for his family.

After his father died, though still a teenager, he went in search of a job to help take care of his beloved mom. During this journey he met Mr. Donald Charles Scafidi who gave him employment in his first job. Mr Scafidi played a pivotal role in Alsius' life and was a father figure, mentor and friend. As a result, Alsius named his 2nd child Donald, in honor of Donald Scafidi. This relationship kickstarted his career as a Mariner, where he spent most of his life working at sea and travelling the world, until his retirement in 1993.

On December 16, 1972, Alsius married the love of his life, Mercylyn Ellis and the union produced six (6) children. Alsius always placed family first and was a dedicated husband and father. His knowledge and guidance was always sought after by family, siblings, relatives and friends.

In 1993, shortly after his retirement, Dad was baptized and gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. He continued steadfast in his commitment to the Lord and was always engaging guests at his home and was not afraid to voice his views on spiritual matters.

Alsius was a philanthropist and engaged in many charitable pursuits including supporting the St Ann's Bay Infirmary, Ocho Rios Primary School, Great Pond Basic School, Churches and Communities.

He is survived by his Dear Wife - Mercylyn, Five (5) Sons, One (1) Daughters, Five (5) Brothers, One (1) Sister, Twenty Four (24) Grandchildren, Two (2) Great Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
