I moved to Pittsburgh to attend graduate school at Pitt in the 1980s. My first summer here, I was broke and needed work, and AJ (I knew him as Al) gave me my first job here. It saved my life, quite possibly literally. We've been friends ever since. I will miss him, and I know his passing leaves a giant hole in the lives and hearts of his family and his other friends.

Stephen created this beautiful tribute in honor of his Dad 's accomplishments as a self-taught writer and theater reviewer. Whoever wrote Stephen's name on the poster may be getting extra homework.

My brother from another mother! Our friendship spanned over 50 years since we met at freshmen at Edinboro. Our joint love of music (particularly Motown and the Temptations) led us to form our impromptu college singing group known as the Organizers along with R.T. Sample and Paul Johnston. Trying so hard to pattern ourselves after the Tempts, we did a gig at Warren State Hospital (lol) only to find out after the show that staff thought we were patients and locked us in. We laughrd about that for years and years. I also love our discussions about your interview with Otis Williams. I always felt the joy in your voice when we broached that topic when we talked. AJ, I miss you man......to quote Mr. Spock from Star Trek, " YOU ARE AND SHALL FOREVER BE MY FRIEND !} Rest in peace dear friend....much love and respect, my brother,
