Adedotun's obituary

In Loving Memory of Adedotun Ajibade

Born: December 13, 1977

Died: July 15, 2023

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, and father, Adedotun Ajibade, who peacefully left this world to be with Jesus on July 15, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 45 years old.

Dotun was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, on December 13, 1977, to High Chief M.A. and Late Professor E.S. Ajibade. Dotun displayed exceptional intelligence and a deep passion for medicine from a young age. He attended Sacred Heart Private School in Ring Road, Ibadan, and later enrolled in the prestigious Federal Government College in Ogbomoso after a short stint at Government College Ibadan. Dotun's determination to pursue his dream led him to the University of Ibadan, where he studied Medicine. After working as a house officer at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Dotun moved to the United Kingdom and completed his General Practice training in Glasgow, Scotland. He practiced as a GP for many years before relocating to Canada in 2018.

Dotun's devotion to his family was evident in his roles as a loving husband to Damilola and a doting father to their children, Adeoluwa and Oluwandara. As the youngest of six children, Dotun's presence brought joy and laughter to his siblings. He shared a unique bond with his sisters Lola, Bunmi, Sade, and Ore, as well as his brother Mayokun. Together, they formed an inseparable bond, playing football and table soccer as children and embarking on friendly competitions during festive seasons selling chicken from the family poultry farm. Dotun's family always turned to him for medical advice, and he diligently provided reassurance, dispelling their worries with his expert knowledge. He taught us the importance of not self-diagnosing and seeking professional help when needed. Dotun was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews, guiding them through life with his advice and always showing up when needed.

Dotun was known for his gentle nature, his caring spirit, and his selflessness. He possessed a remarkable ability to find solutions to any problem and was always ready to extend a helping hand. Dotun's love for God was unwavering, and his faith was a guiding light in his life. He openly lived his Christian values, inspiring those around him through his prayers, worship, and acts of kindness. Dotun's culinary skills were renowned, and his family and friends eagerly anticipated his delicious dishes and baked treats. He was also gifted with a beautiful voice and used his talent to worship and praise God with heartfelt devotion.

Throughout his battle with cancer, Dotun remained steadfast and focused, determined to face his illness with courage and faith. Although he knew the challenges that lay ahead as a doctor, he shielded his loved ones from the burden and requested their prayers. Dotun embodied worship and spoke passionately about the word of God. Despite his childhood struggles with delayed speech and stuttering, he overcame these obstacles to become an excellent speaker and a preacher of the gospel. His insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge allowed him to uncover hidden truths and comprehend complex concepts.

Dotun's family and friends cherished him deeply. He is now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven. He leaves behind his grieving father, his devoted wife Damilola, his cherished children Deolu and Dara, his caring sisters Lola, Bunmi, Sade, and Ore, his loving brother Mayokun, his nephews Tokunbo, Mayokun, Ireyimika, Feyisayo, Aanu, Ayanfe, Fikayo, his nieces Joy, Ifechukwu, and Simi, his beloved brothers and sister in love, Ifeanyi, Diran, Segun, Kunle and Deola. His loving parents in marriage, Mr. & Mrs. Jaiyeola, brothers Tomiwa and Deoye, sister Temi, and nephews Oba and Fela will remember him most fondly. Dotun's memory will forever be etched in all our hearts, and his legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire us.

As we mourn the loss of our dear Dotun, let us remember him with fondness and gratitude for the incredible impact he had on our lives. May his soul find eternal rest, and may we find solace in knowing that he is at peace in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
