For about a year before Ron passed, he spoke to me on the phone about his civic activism, particularly his work to stop the Glassboro Camden Light Rail. He was never too tired or ill to talk to me even when he was tired or ill.

This past Monday night, the Mantua Township Committee voted to put a question on the ballot in November about the GCL. We have been collecting signatures all summer for this Petition. Many times before we went out in the heat, Ron’s good friend, Joseph Hetzel and I would say to ourselves “Should we be doing this? And something would push us on. The night I visited Surrey Road, Joseph Hetzel said, “Think about Ron tonight. That is where he lived.

So, Ron and Family, we dedicate this Ballot Question to Ron Britten… just another in a string of civic duties that Ron started.
