Renata Antonia di Florio passed away peacefully on January 23, 2018 at age 80 surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born and raised in Italy and received her PhD in biology at the University of Bologna. In 1959 she moved to the U.S. with her husband Enzo, a physician, whose death predeceased her in 2008. She did her post doctoral work in sickle cell anemia research at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. …
