Thank you for visiting my grandson Baby Miles' Memorial.

I have been known as very stoic in life, and I have absorbed the loss of my mom and my dad, my wonderful father-in-law who died tragically when he was hit by a car while crossing the street, and my mother-in-law who passed less than 2 months before my wedding day.

But nothing has been as devastating than the shocking and catastrophic loss of our first grandson so close to his projected delivery date. I am devastated for Baby Miles. I am sad for my daughters and the rest of the family. And I am heartbroken and particularly concerned for my son and my daughter-in-law. How can they even be consoled at this time?  Words seem totally inadequate, and the very good deeds that could show support under certain circumstances, hold the potential for opening the wound even wider. All my life, I have always gone out of my way to extend my hand to others and offer my help to anyone who might need it; To pull others up and to offer a word of kindness or tangible assistance to anyone at all, even perfect stranger. But I suppose everybody needs somebody sometimes, even me.

The grieving mom and dad are not ready now to re-engage with the world, or to participate in events, and certainly not planning a memorial for the baby they expected this month. As part of making final arrangements for my grandson, and as someone who has founded and run a non-profit organization in the past, a former teacher, and a  life-long social advocate for the welfare and wellbeing of others, I have established a memorial on this site, along with the Baby Miles Fetal & Birth Injury Memorial Foundation, Inc. The foundation has applied for expedited non-profit status with the Massachusetts Secretary of State. And I made the first donation to my grandson's memorial foundation.

I am most thankful to everyone for visiting our baby's memorial, and for every kind note, and donation. In addition to final expenses, any funds raised will help to launch the Baby Miles' foundation whose goal is to support medical research and education to prevent fetuses, babies, and mothers, from becoming casualties of the absence of medical knowledge or poor standard in obstetric care practices, or the lack of proper medical treatment and inadequacies thereof.
