We wish to thank all Mary's friends, relatives and supporters for their sympathy, help and kindness at this difficult time. We deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We invite you to leave a message, memory or photo here. According to Mary's wishes, her body was cremated so there will be no funeral. Details to come on memorial events. Mary Innis Cates, eldest daughter of renowned Canadian scholar Harold Innis, passed away on Friday February 14, 2020 in San Diego, California. She died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by books on art, literature, history and the classics. She was 92 years young, active, witty and engaged until the end, completing the New York Times crossword puzzle each day – in ink.
