Hello friends. We are so sorry to announce the passing of L. Neil Smith, visionary and futurist, husband and father, funny guy, fierce proponent of individual liberty, and lover of life. He will be missed by many, and there will never be another like him in this world. Please share your stories about and thoughts of Neil on this page; we will make announcements here regarding services and memorials to come.

Obituary

Lester Neil Smith III, novelist and political commentator, gunsmith and musician, visionary and futurist, passed away on Friday, August 27th at Poudre Valley Hospital after a lengthy battle with heart and kidney disease. He was 75 years old.

A long-time resident of Fort Collins, Colorado, Neil was born on May 12th, 1946 at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado to Maj. Lester N. Smith II and Marie L. Coveleskie Smith.
