In memory of George William Gregory

Memories & condolences

Dear Lorraine & the Gregory Family:

Please accept my deep condolences.  I got to know George through the Oakland County Bar Association's Probate, Estates & Trust Committee. Besides be an exceptional lawyer, George generously shared his time and talents by presenting seminars, mentoring & helping others, and providing leadership. His infectious laugh, great sense of humor, and kindness and generosity will be missed dearly. I feel blessed to have known him.

May God bless George and the whole family.

I can hear George's laugh and almost feel his enthusiastic handshake. He was a valued colleague teaching tax at the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business, a thoughtful and productive coauthor in our writing, and a superlative practitioner in estate and tax law. My will badly needs revision and I am looking for someone who might begin to replace the counsel that flowed from the talents of this fine man. I do not wish to think of George Gregory as gone. Perhaps, I simply can not accept his absence. Instead, I intend to think of him as  a room unvisited but always there--welcoming, warm, and everything in its place.
George was always so positive, willing and able to help.  He was extremely generous with his time and his good nature.  He was clearly very proud of and deeply loved his family.  George is a great loss to the legal community, our law firm and me personally and must be a tremendous loss to you, his family.  Please accept my sincere condolences.
I only knew George from afar -- attending ICLE and other Probate and Estate Planning Seminars.  But he was special.  He was so giving of his time to other lawyers to help them be better at what they did.  And his sense of humor was truly unique -- very few could bring humor to the practice area of tax.  He will be missed by me and many others in the profession.
George was a great mentor- a lawyer who cared about other lawyers, who gave freely of his time and with whom I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with from time to time.  He was so smart and made the practice so much fun! I am so sad; may his memory be a blessing.   I send my deepest condolences  to his family.
So sorry for the loss of your brother. He sounds like an amazing person, just like all the Gregory’s we’ve met.
