The Life of Elarnsil Odom Sr.

Elarnsil Odom Sr., aka “Lonzo”, was born August 8, 1941, to Josephine and Amos Odom in Macon, Georgia. At a very young age, Elarnsil's father, Amos, passed from a long-term illness, and his mother Josephine moved to Detroit, MI to pursue a better future for him and his older brother, Crawford Odom Sr. Both siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Alexander (Alex) Dickey until their early teenage years.

When Elarnsil was thirteen, their mother Josephine wed Leroy Rowe, and was blessed with three daughters, Patricia, Nora, and Debora. Soon after, Josephine sent for Lonzo and his brother to move to Hamtramck, MI where he attended and graduate from Hamtramck High School.

Elarnsil married at a young age to his sweetheart Loretta Jean Reed in Detroit, MI 1961. Loretta loved Lonzo so much, she always called him “Sweet” or “Odom”. With this union, they were blessed with five children. Steve, Elarnsil Jr. (Junior), Sandra, Tyrone, and Stephanie.
Elarnsil became employed with the Chrysler Corporation Warren Stamping for about fifteen years until he became ill, and later became employed as a security guard.

Elarnsil was a man of distinct character. While his time on this earth, he enjoyed fishing with his sweetheart Loretta at Belle Isle, and fixing automobiles. Every now and then, you would hear him with his famous phrases,"That's Nice" or “That's out of sight”.
