David's obituary

David Scott Winkleman Sr. did not leave this world without a fight. After battling lung cancer for two years, he took his final breaths while holding hands with his "baby girl" on February 1, 2020.

David was born January 4, 1960 in Chicago, IL, to the parents of Priscilla "Petey" and Joseph Winkleman.

He was a proud father to the late Bradley Krause Jr., Sarah (Jose) Krause-Alvarez, David Jr. (Loan) Winkleman, Courtney (Colby) Ticen, Max Winkleman, and Valarie Winkleman.

Dave was the oldest of four; big brother to the late Dawn Winkleman-Mandarino, Debra (Matthew) Stewart, and Darlene (Philip) DiPasquale and uncle to many.

He was quick to give "noogies" to his grandchildren, Julia, Isaac, Aiden, Lily, Landon and Braylen and cuddle up to his grand-dog-ter Maya.

Dave was a technical man. You would typically find him under the hood of a car or taking apart a toaster. Knowing Dave, he probably put WD-40 on the golden gates before walking through them. He attended Devry University while studying computer science and enjoyed working as a mechanical engineer. He was also a certified badass.

In high school he was the guitarist and singer for the band Capella, Orland Park's finest rock band. Dave sure loved blasting his rock n roll music while cruising in his 1979 Bronco. He also raced in the 80's in his Mercury Capri. Other hobbies of his included pool, snowmobiling, and watching football.

He was the first one to crack a joke, first one to lend a hand to someone in need, and first one to tell it how it is. The only filter he used was for his coffee. All whom loved him dearly will never forget his humor along with his tenacity, problem solving skills and pure generosity.

He will be remembered, Saturday, February 8, 2020. Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church (10731 W 131st St, Orland Park, IL) at 10am. A Celebration of Life will follow, taking place at The Irish Patriot (9875 W 143rd St, Orland Park, IL) from 12pm - 4pm.
