Background
My Dad was involved for many years with the CCNC London Chapter (https://www.londonccnc.com/), a Chinese Canadian community that celebrates its heritage, embraces diversity and builds bridges with other communities. He served a term as president and was an ongoing member of the Board of Directors. Your donations will contribute to the functions and activities below that the CCNC London Chapter executes on to sustain and perpetuate support from its members as well as citizens of the City of London, making it one of the most popular non-profit organizations of Southwestern Ontario.
Cultural: Holding Heritage festivals, heritage weeks, cultural classes, heritage performances, fundraising for charity events, and visits to institutions for care of seniors. Cultural Teams of CCNC include Chinese Ensemble, Choir, Lion Dance, photographic club together with sister organization Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association of London.
Educational: This chapter holds Mandarin classes for both Chinese and non-Chinese students, and ESL classes for the new immigrants at the Centre.
Social: Organizing Annual New Year celebrations, fundraising galas, members’ nights, the August Moon festival, Chinese painting/calligraphy contests for Chinese School children, etc. plus many other functions held at the Centre.
Political: Taking an active role in addressing the hurtful issue of prohibition of over-age children from immigrating to Canada to join their parents. This organization has succeeded in pressuring and persuading the government to change the immigration policy in this regard.
