The Old Guard 1968 & 1969 NJ State Championship football teams brought much attention and recognition to East Orange and assisted on its students being considered for better colleges and universities… Charles Hinton was very much a part of that success,

Charles “Sugar Bear” Hinton, one of the key varsity members of the mighty USC Trojans1972 Championship Team, set out with determination, heart and soul, to show the world what young men can accomplish through sports.  His personal philosophy was that talent , athleticism, and hard work should be supported and mentored by our communities.  Charles felt very nurtured by the strong sense of community within the strength of family, friends, teammates, coaches, and schools while growing up in East Orange, New Jersey.  Embracing the desires to continue his mission and legacy of devotion to community and to support the development of the talent of youth , our foundation’s goal is to assist in …financially supporting thru scholarships for aspiring talent for future generations.
