Carole Doyle Power, 86, of Jupiter, FL passed away at her home on October 15, 2020 with her family and friends by her side.
Carole was born February 27, 1934 to Veronica and Alexander Doyle in Brooklyn, NY. Carole was raised in Garden City, NY and graduated from Garden City HS in 1951. After graduating from Georgetown Visitation in 1953 she married her late husband of 56 years, James Edward Power and resided in Manhasset, NY; North Salem, NY; and Jupiter, FL.
Carole was a loving and devoted mother of five children, Jim of Lincoln University, PA; Tracy of San Francisco, CA; Eileen of Whitinsville, MA; Kevin; and Meg of Winter Park, FL; the grandmother of R. Conor Power, Kelly Wilkinson and Kai DePaula, and great grandmother to Ava Wilkinson. Carole is also survived by her sons and daughter in law, Ken Seeger, Beth Power, Geoff DePaula and Roger Iapicco, and grandson in law, George Wilkinson. Carole was predeceased by her husband, James, and son, Kevin. In addition to her family, Carole was beloved by dozens of friends and extended family members, who valued her kindness, sense of humor, trust and dedication. In fact, one friend recently said, “I know 12 people who say ‘Carole Power is my best friend.’”
Carole lived a full and active life and loved to make the most of every situation. A holiday didn’t pass that the house wasn’t decorated and a special meal made. The family’s grand piano never sounded right again after a dance routine on top that broke the soundboard. She loved playing tennis, paddle, golf, bridge, backgammon and gin rummy. Her sense of humor and life-long love of music converged in a rendition of “Stayin' Alive” during her final days.
Carole also had a commitment to helping those in need and volunteered in many capacities. She lead Cub Scout groups, CCD classes and PTAs; worked with children in crisis at Connor’s Nursery; launched “JL Cares” in Jonathan’s Landing; drove for the Jupiter Medical Center Motor Aid; ran a program to support Haitians with health problems; and never missed an opportunity to donate food and gifts to families in need at the holidays.
Carole will forever be loved, remembered and missed dearly by her family and friends. Due to COVID-19 we will be hosting a memorial service in Carole’s honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Smile 4 Hope, JL Cares or St. Christopher’s Church, Hobe Sound.
