Vanessa Carrington — "The memories are so many and the laughter even more. I want to honor Bryce (Brycie as I called him) today especially.
I first met Bryce decades ago when he rented a room from me in San Francisco. We became friends and I wanted to introduce him to my boyfriend because I thought they would be great friends. Both were reluctant for this proposed ‘man date’ but they agreed and hit it off instantly. Bruce nick named me the ‘claw’ and we shared Thanksgiving playing scrabble, skiing trips, he joined phil for rag arse golf trips, not to mention a few Vegas wedding celebrations all dressed as Elvis. Bryce made the point of carving out time, the most important thing of all, to show you your friendship mattered.
He lived everyday to the fullest, was a great friend to others and was surrounded by friends who loved him.
We will always miss you and will always be thankful for all the time we had with you."

Joe Baker — "Bryce was one of my best friends and the person I spoke with on the phone the most. I met him and have worked with him for the past 10 years, with the last 5 years on an almost daily basis.

As known by anyone who visits this page, you'd be hard pressed to find a more intelligent, funny, curious, interesting, fun, caring, genuine person. I miss him terribly. To have a co-worker to commiserate with during all the typical workplace bs, and then to also be such a great friend is something that I am so thankful for.

There was never a question of needing a hotel on my trips to SF. He is so generous and made all the extra efforts to be such a great friend to so many people. My heart goes out to his family, who he talked about so often and loved so much.

I will also share that in communicating with many of Bryce's clients, he was much more than their fringe benefit broker. The condolences and breadth and impact he had in his niche business/professional space was incredible. He had such a unique way of creating immediate and genuine friendships and trust with those employer groups that were strangers to him the day before.
I miss you buddy- can't wait to celebrate you with your family and friends some day soon!

Brady Curtis — "It has been great to hear from people who have shared memories of Bryce. Thank You! It's amazing to realize that Bryce had so many friends from all chapters of his life. I was originally a skeptic of this online memorial, but have to admit this is very welcome in this current world of feeling isolated.

Bryce had planned to be in Seattle for Christmas this year at our house. We have many shared moments of Christmas throughout the years, so this one is going to be difficult. However, the last thing he would want is for people to feel bummed out.

It’s been a little more then a month since I learned I will never hear from you again. With that being said that means I have to take this crazy world on without you by my side. It’s 12.41 a.m and it’s my bday today and I waited to write to you because it’s been so hard to put my thought together. Your 50 th bday would of been this January! Oh, those Capricorns! We know how to find each other, didn’t we? I don’t think you would ever understand how much happiness you brought to so many people. You could light up any room you walked into and everyone knew who you were. Nobody was a stranger to you Bryce. I didn’t get to say goodbye to you but I did. I just didn’t know it’d be the last time. I remember our last conversation and trying to make plans to see each other. We’d checked our calendars and make sure there was some time- “I’ll text you next week”- you said. And this is where it ends for now. Like one of our untied, to be continued conversation that I knew we will pick up next time. I would of have so much to say to you and about you. I will carry your memory like a luck coin. I was so, so lucky to know you! It’s an impossible reality to say- my friend is gone! What are these terrible words? They are surreal in their cruelty! I know you will visit me and give me signs- big or little- to tell me you are ok but I still catch myself at the most random times hearing your infectious laugh and voice. Grief is a Venn of diagram of emotions. It comes with a riot of color, pulsing with saturation as competing feelings fade in and out. Bright, then dim again.

Jane Prince — 2020, San Francisco, CA, USA: "I was fortunate to be a part of a small memorial for Bryce last Sunday (12/6/2020) with Joey Seidler, Stephen Dohler & Chris Larson. Bryce's mum, Linda kindly shared his ashes so we could gather & say a proper goodbye to Bryce. Joey volunteered his boat. Chris brought fortune cookies, lilies & fireworks. I bought focaccia and a soliloquy. Stephen documented. We all brought stories. We took Bryce on a boat trip on the Bay. It was a moody but beautiful day. Carl the fog stopped by to make remarks. Each of us made Fernet speeches from our hearts. Mike Daley dialed in. We didn't quite reach the top speeds of Bryce's fav America's Cup yachts but had time to reflect & we didn't have to deal with helmet hair. Our first stop was the west side of Angel Island, one of SF's best fishing spots and where Bryce and Joey were scheduled to go fishing on the day of his passing. Our final sunset spot was under the Golden Gate Bridge. This is an iconic SF landmark connecting two great halves of the city. Bryce was a connector. He attracted so many good people around him. I hope that we can continue to cultivate Bryce's community from here. Izzy's hosted the final supper. Steaks & Oregon Pinot was ordered. We sat in the same spot as we had with Bryce only a few weeks ago. It was also only a block from where I first met Bryce. in 2013."

Jane Prince — 2015, San Francisco, CA, USA: "It wasn't long before Bryce became a regular part of my San Francisco line-up. I met him within a few weeks of my arrival in SF in 2013 & he's been a fixture ever since. Mike Daley was the original connection (Bonesaw) and martinis at the Balboa Club. Bryce was always up for anything. We had fantastic meals, caught burlesque shows, visited the Armory (former HQ of the National Guard & more), visited wine country, walked Lands End, we even went to a Mexican cock fight. He honed my appreciation of Pinot Noir, bucatini & Alfred Hitchcock. Most recently he was my President's Club date in Cabo where we snorkled, farm-to-tabled, searched endlessly for Burrito, our favorite burro & schmoozed my company's management. Can you imagine anyone who could play the part so well? Bryce was so finessed with a humor as dark & quirky as hell tamed by a huge generosity. And he was a gentleman. Always. Bryce and I bonded over adventures but built a relationship supporting each other over the years through life's curve balls. I'm going to miss you Bryce. Sending my love to Linda, Blake and the family through this challenging time. Take care Bryce and see you on the other side."

Phillip carrington — "I really don't know where to start, I had so many great times with Bryce that the stories are endless. Since meeting Bryce in San Francisco the nights out, dinners, travel, costumes and family time have been endless.
If Bryce said he was going to be there, he was, from golf in Portugal, Viking costumes in San Fran, Elvis in Las Vegas or the Norton Arms pub in Runcorn, we always had fun.
I have been very fortunate to be introduced to many amazing friends of Bryce over the years and most are still really good friends of mine, the same has happened on the English side of the pond with Bryce spending good times with life long friends of mine on the Rag Arse gold tour. I will choose wisely the funny photos I post of some of those meet ups but all show the great times we have spend together over the years.
you are truly missed Mr Burns but will not be forgotten, especially as one of the golf holes on our Rag Arse golf tour is being named and a trophy being designed in your honour."

We met through mutual friends and I was so happy whenever we all got together up at the vineyard, meeting for drinks about town or for a birthday celebration. I ran into Bryce at the most random spots around town having a late lunch with my now 23 year old son Jerry at Roam, shuffling through a Farmer’s Market (buying the perfect produce for a dinner party he was going to host), picking out wine at a Wine Merchant store as the perfect wine to share with a friend or host a boozy brunch at Balboa. He was sincere when he asked about my family and truly cared what everyone was up to. His smile was always warm, welcoming and often a tad devilish. Laughing in Kat and Bryce’s company was the best feeling ever. Bryce has left us and I feel a bit robbed I will not run into him around town, receive a Bryce hug or share a drink with this good man. My sincerest condolences to his family and son. May you all have the love and support you need as you move through this sad time. If you need any support in San Francisco - I would gladly coordinate and support you. No task is too great or too small and it would be my honor to support you. Bryce would do same for any of us!"

This is Bryce with our Newfoundland “Bear” at 40 Orben which was directly next door.  Bryce always had a special relationship with bear.  We met Bryce right after we moved in when we threw a house warming party.  A friend I grew up with used to be neighbors with Bryce on union street.  This was the first of several uncanny circumstances including that Bryce lived in the apartment that my wife Brigitte lived in during elementary school.   Bryce is the only friend I’ve had who would notice appliances missing from our kitchen and would gift it to us. We would make French press coffee with regular coffee grounds and one day he gives us a burre grinder which had a setting for French press size grounds.  Bryce also gifted us a George Foreman grill. The grill got lost along the way but I just used the grinder for coffee and it works great - thanks again Bryce.  When our first son was born Bryce gave him the cutest little metal piggy bank, which Jack still has.  I played a lot of golf with Bryce.  He always seemed to score better than you would think from watching his tee shot - not a power game but he could score.  Bryce was supposed to come with us to spyglass in 2013 but another commitment came up.  Bob Kozlowski came in his place.  The photo here was in our back yard where we realized we needed an outdoor tv - which hence became the spot for watching Sunday and Monday night football games.  I remember watching the giants win the super bowl out there after which we made lamb chops on the grill.  Bryce had game in the kitchen he would usually bring over an appetizer of baked Brie with toast points - his go to app. One thanksgiving we all made a brined Turkey in his smoker. The smoker died halfway through but after some repair it got going again. Definitely the best turkey ive ever had. Sadly with kids and our move to Marin we saw less of Bryce but we have great memories. I’ll miss you Bryce-man - your departure came far too early.

I am now just learning of this devastating news. I met Bryce in 2005 and we became fast friends in San Francisco. He was my Buddy from day one and even though we haven't lived in the same city for over 10 years, I would still see him often. He has been a part of every major event in my life since I have known him and I consider him one of my closest guy friends.

His humor and sly smile always warmed my heart. He was nothing but a good friend to me (and my now husband) and there are no words for losing him. The last phone conversation I had with him was joking about his 50th birthday and looking forward to what plans he would make.

Please reach out to me when you can as I would love to speak with you.

Chris Larson — "I met Bryce in Waikiki beach. In my phone it says Bruce Waikiki. Once we got back to sf we became fast friends. I didn't even know his last name for like 5 years. The last month of reflecting on his passing has been difficult but, I want to focus on his life and what a great person,father,friend he was. First off...he was a geek. He had a wooden duck and Asian fan collection. He saved every electronic hotel key he ever had. We made fun of him by saying he was like a 5 or 6...but he had game with the ladies...And always dated 8-9-10s. We had our own song. It was Everlong by the Foo fighters...We would sing that with the Windows rolled down coming back from golf driving by ocean beach. I cry every time I hear it now. He was the only person that ever actually called me. No text or FaceTime bullshit. Bryce was Old skool. He taught me how to cook. The family was nice enough to give me his le cruset pan and I will always be reminded of him when I cook a meal with it..this thxgiving will be especially tough as he has been the head chef at many thxgivin dinners in sf. He loved his family and Blake was a gift from heaven. No words can describe the kindness and generosity of this man. So let's raise a glass of Willamette valley pinot noir at thanksgiving this year to celebrate his life. It is still surreal that I will not get any more VM’s that start off with Bryce’s signature opening. No more discussions on our fantasy football lineups. No more Creed karaoke going over the Golden Gate Bridge. No more golf. No more fishing. No more just catching up. That was the thing with Bryce Curtis. It was not only a digital relationship full of texts and Instagrams. We talked regularly. That is the kind of person he was. He truly wanted to stay in touch so to speak.
I am so honored and blessed that we met 20 years ago on the Presidio for a round of golf with Greg Livengood. (Thanks for the intro Schreck/Beebe. Goody suggested the Meadow Club, but we wanted to play a nice course) I still remember asking Bryce if we should order some beers on the turn, and he pulled three bud lights out of his bag on the spot. I knew then and there we would become fast friends and we did.
Beyond just hanging out, as I think back on all the good times together, I also realize that Bryce was always there when you were moving to help out, or to cook dinner when you just had a kid, or to have your back when a bunch of rowdy Niner fans wanted to burn your invaluable Danny Kanell Giants jersey (with me in it) or simply to put a freaking smile on your face by taking you and your son out to dinner, like he did on my last visit to SF.
I am even more blessed that I had the chance to visit him in St. Augustine back in May. While we had a small group for golf and fishing, just he and I went to breakfast one morning, and he gave me a tour of the city. At first, I was thinking that would be lame, but of course, he knew I liked history, and we hiked around the old fort as he spewed a bunch of facts and figures which I will forever rely on when playing trivia. I very easily could have not gone to Florida to visit, or decided to sleep in versus going for breakfast, but I am so thankful I did not, and we got to spend time together. I will always cherish that day.
Word to the wise…. call your dear friends and family. Visit them. Do not take anything for granted. Learn to play the guitar. Publish a book. Fish every day. Golf every day. Figure it out because you do not know what tomorrow may bring.
I will miss you terribly my brother, as will everyone you ever touched.

Tim Garey — "I am so sorry to hear this news. Although I hadn’t seen Bryce in a few years he always has a place with me. Brady, the times when we were around 3rd/4th/5th grade and we all went up to the school what seems like every Thursday night when the adults played basketball. We ran around and had the whole school grounds to ourselves. That is such a good memory I will have of us as kids. My best to the entire family and know that Bryce touched a lot of people with his kind nature and friendly character."

While it was primarily in our younger years, I have so many memories that include Bryce. Whether it was competing with him on the golf course or in other sports, sharing our love of music (he had the first CD player I'd ever seen), the most memorable thing was his laugh. He was devious, competitive and funloving. I always thought I would have more opportunities to compete with him on the golf course or tennis court, maybe see a great concert together, but life turns out differently than we imagined. I will never forget the impact you had on my life my friend. RIP Bryce."

About 5 years ago I was in Bend for work and downtown with some clients having a drink. I looked down at the bar and this guy is just being a loud mouth. Maybe it was me being the loud mouth! I look closer - it’s Bryce who I haven’t seen in 10 years and we ended up hitting the town that night and having a ball! He invited me to play golf with him and his Mom Linda the next day and it was such an awesome day and so much fun. Bryce was a beauty! I am so forever grateful that I got to know Bryce as a person. Linda Williams — 2020: "The attached tribute kind of sums up his life. He had the best summer ever, spending much of it in Gearhart on the Oregon Coast where he “felt better than anywhere else in the world.” And especially, the three months he spent in St. Augustine with his 4-year-old son Blake and Blake’s mom Lauren.

In September he made the drive solo from St. Augustine back to SF, stopping along the way to visit friends, family and business associates—as well as national parks and monuments. I should add that he didn’t miss a stop at any fireworks stands along the way. His entire collection was set off when he stayed with good friends in Scottsdale.

Brady Curtis — 1972, Portland, OR, USA: "Bryce and I had many tennis battles over the years and this photo shows that we started young. I'll claim that our last match was a draw. I don't know when we will have a rematch and I hope to be an old man. But rest assured, I expect to see him again for one more game."
