Robert (Bob) Merich, 96, died in Denver, CO at home under hospice care with his wife Karen following a slow decline in his health after 2 sets of pulmonary embolisms in Oct and Nov. He leaves behind his wife of 45 yrs Karen Hinz, Son Peter Merich- St Augustine, FL, Son Jerry deceased 2014. Two grandchildren- Brandi Merich and Daren Merich- St Augustine, FL. Four great grandchildren- Isabella, Mila, Alexander, and Malachi. Bob was born in Chicago, IL on Jan 15, 1924 but spent most of his childhood on family farms near Green Bay, WI. He was the oldest of seven. Siblings were Chuck, George, Mary, Helen, Eva and Marion. He left the farm at age 19 and fought in WW11 in Europe from 1943-1945. He spent most of his adult life doing many types of construction including overseeing some large overseas projects. Impressive for only having an 8th grade education. From age 50 until well into his 80's he worked side by side with wife Karen doing home remodeling. His hobbies were playing the horses and studying many languages. Some of the most joyful times of his life were traveling to Cajun/Zydeco festivals starting around 1998 where they met many hundreds of friends from all over the country. Bob was a one of a kind, witty, charming, free spirit who was loved by many. He will always be in our hearts!
