They are the worst hospice I have ever dealt with I will give them a minus in ratings. You never know when or if someone will come and care for THEIR Patient or not. If so you are very lucky to have the same nurse more then 3 times. Never know who may come. Never the same time. The aids are great they need to be the nurses they are always on time and same one all the time. They are the ONLY THING GOOD about hospice of Charleston. I DO NOT Recommend them to anyone you do better by taking care of the patient yourself. I’ve never seen a chaplain. They are all thank you nurses that come or half calm but none of them are from around here just one that was really really good and have not seen her in two weeks so I don’t know what happened to her I guess she was just too good for the company. The only reason I gave them one star is because you have to give them a store or you can’t post your remarks and I don’t want to give them that one

Hospice of Charleston has an impressive team! Choosing a hospice is such an intimate decision, as i have been there in choosing for my grandfather. I partner with hospice of Charleston professionally and I’m so impressed with the team and attention to detail. The small things are everything to them! You’ll be so grateful to talk to David, who is the person who will guide you thru your questions. No question is dumb, silly, or obvious. He is gentle and supportive in this time for you. Good luck in your search!

As a nurse, I have high standards! The staff at Hospice of Charleston were super, and they were compassionate and caring both for my husband and for our family, even when we were demanding. Also, they knew when to guide us gently into the realities associated with dying. I am grateful for their high level of professionalism and support. I will always remember when the social worker and my husband had a discussion about medication and both interjected humor into the discussion--also during a family conference with the entire team, she sat beside my husband who was dying and gently and softly sang to comfort him.

My mother was admitted to hospice three days before she died and I was very impressed with the hospice staff - nurses, front desk person, doctor.
In the middle of the afternoon - a couple of hours after my mother arrived - she expressed hunger and the hospice nurse brought in several items of hot food and a beverage for my mother to eat. It was much more than I expected.
My mother passed during the night a couple of days later and I got a call the next morning from a hospice nurse. She was very warm and consoling. When I arrived at hospice after the call, I was led into the room by a nurse and they had arranged my mother's body in repose as if she were sleeping.
I can't say enough for the warmth and care given my mother and my family while my mother was at hospice. Joe Gamboa
P.S. The facilities at hospice are absolutely state-of-the-art and very like a 4-star hotel. The room had a large lounge chair, bookshelves laden with books and reading materials, there was a long window seat in the window, and a built-in desk and chair. There even were fresh flowers in a vase on the windowsill. The public hallways had a lot of original art and there was a very elegant non-denominational chapel off the front corridor. The whole atmosphere was very peaceful.
