Elaine Rose — Heartland Hospice had one job: to keep my husband pain free and calm. One job. They failed miserably. From the moment the nurse left on the first day, it was one error after another. They called his pain and comfort meds into the wrong pharmacy after promising they would be delivered by their own pharmacy.... Read more Then they wanted me to leave him to go pick them up, not at my pharmacy, but one half an hour away. I called a certain nurse 4 times and not once did she return my call. Not once. When I did reach her, she was cold and gave not the slightest indication that she cared. With the exception of the social workers, Jennifer and Monica, the people there have all the empathy of a rock. I finally called the care line at corporate headquarters in Ohio and received a call from the Executive director. She got all over things and had his comfort meds and supplies delivered. He died the next day. I am at peace with his passing, but I will never forget the complete and total failure of this organization to fulfill its mission.

Update 11-15-21: the reply below was automated. They don't care. They addressed their reply to my deceased husband. Just confirmation that the lack of care and empathy is also alive and well at the top. Read less

Mike Bauser — I wish I could give this organization 0 stars. Horrible experience dealing with them while my dad was so sick. Very unprofessional, nurses don’t show up, stand outside in your carport smoking. I could go on and on. When my dad passed it took over 2 hours for a nurse to come and pronounce him dead! Unexceptionable!... Read more The only thing positive I have to say about this company are the 2 nurses aides that we had. They were wonderful, compassionate ladies. Do yourself a favor and do not use this hospice organization. Read less

Maureen Warren — From start to finish, this was a very stressful experience. There is a huge communication gap in this process. The administrator who signed us up guaranteed we would have the same aid and nurse the whole time (never did). The aid was 2 hours late on the first visit and never communicated with us. ... Read moreThen she showed up at the wrong house. The social worker NEVER followed through with one thing she promised to us. She met with us once and never heard from her again after. Always had to make several calls to get things done. Had to escalate almost every time. We just kept hearing "I'm so sorry." The "spiritual advisor" was supposed to show up, when he wasn't here on time I called him and he was running late (again never communicated with us). So he told me he would call me next week to reschedule. NEVER did. I was frantic as my dad was dying at this point now. So we called a good friend who had connections with the church and a priest rushed over to give my dad his last rights. NO ONE should ever have to go through this with hospice. After my dad passed away, we still got calls from Heartland to schedule appts with my dad!

Once we were able to get a nurse to us, they were great. The nurses who were with my dad were great.

And the response will be sorry for your trouble, call our CARE LINE..What a joke. Worse experience ever that my family endured with Hearland. Read less

Denise Underwood — A very dear friend received hospice care from Heartland. He passed away yesterday, 3/22/21 comfortably and peacefully in his home in Clayton, NC. His grieving widow shared her appreciation with me. As a hospice RN, I wanted to thank all if you who helped with his care.
