We used Vitas in 2012 to care for my father who was deteriorating rapidly. We chose Vitas after I interviewing 4 other hospice agencies and we knew we had the best. The care given to my father was comforting to to us. The compassion shown to us during his final days prepared us, in a positive way, for his passing. We recommended Vitas to other friends who shared in the positive experience during this very sad time. Thank you all!

Avoid relying on this agency for the end of life care of your loved one. The care is highly substandard. The agency seems to be keen on overdosing patients, you'll see this referenced frequently on their Facebook page. Their bereavement counseling is non-existent. The only follow-up you'll get will be a reply from the company to a negative review that you post. Watch, you'll see. My experience with this agency was 6 months ago, it's heartbreaking to see that so many negative reviews are still being posted. One nurse in particular, who for now I won't mention by name, was and is an abhorrent representative of the profession of nursing. AVOID THIS CORPORATION.

A professional salesman(MaryAnn) signed us up with guarantees if we had problems she would assist. No response to over 15 messages/calls. Turnover of nurses (mostly inexperienced) leads to no consistency for quality client care. We had approximately 8 Nurses in a year. Took the MD almost 5 months before meeting our hospice loved one and family but constantly wanted to progress to Narcotics prior to needed. The MD & RN’s did not know the history or current diagnosis although they meet weekly to discuss the plan of care of which the family is not invited to attend. Signed up with Vitas because they allegedly have Respiratory Therapist( RT) on staff. RT came once & maybe called twice in the past year for a COPD client. They did not follow the discussed plan of care. The last few days the care and medication administration was extremely aggressive making everyone in the family very uncomfortable. Bottom line....... a horrible experience for a most beloved person. I would rate a zero if possible and highly recommend using a different hospice agency.

if I could I would do zero stars but it won't allow. they have serious problems communicating with each other and family. the come when they want too and if you say something then your wrong. I have video of a few nurses mistreating my mother in law. but they still won't do anything about it. plans are to switch company's asap.
