Planning a funeral in Miami, FL

There are many options available to those planning a funeral in Miami, Florida. In addition to the many funeral homes with Miami-style architecture, there are hundreds of beautiful potential venues if you want to do something a little more creative.

With cremation as the most popular method of disposition in Florida, families tend to have more flexibility in terms of the funeral events they choose, and celebrations of life are on the rise. Whereas, traditionally, funerals have been held in funeral homes and places of worship, more and more people are gravitating to other locations, such parks, community centers, favorite restaurants, bars, and even beaches. The vast majority of Miami funeral homes will help with a funeral at another location. Alternatively, you can choose a direct burial or direct cremation and plan any events on your own. The former will minimize the number of logistics that you manage yourself; the latter will be significantly cheaper (and potentially allow more creativity on your part), so it really just comes down to personal preference. If you are a native Spanish speaker, you may also want to consider working with one of Miami’s Hispanic-owned funeral homes.
